ok SO... After already doing some research, I have been assured that I CAN get a Stronghold as a Duel Class Hero.
Currently my protagonist is a Fighter/Mage.
I have just finished the " De'Arnise Keep' Quests and was very much looking forward to starting the quests to get my fancy sexy Stronghold!. But... Upon going outside and talking to Nalia... Nothing happened. She talks about leaving and n ot coming back. When she is SUPPOSED to talk about not wanting to marry some offish Nobel and asking Me to help the situation...

Right now the ONLY Thing I can think of is that somehow, I have already started a StrongHold quest chain without knowing it. BUT The only other one I would be elidgiable for is the Mage one.. and I am pretty sure I avoided talking to anyone afterwards.... So.....

Suggestions?
You have dual classed. If your first class (Fighter) is currently locked out you will NOT get the fighter stronghold. Multi class is different.
Hickory is correct. You are unfortunately locked out of the Fighter stronghold owing to being a Fighter/Mage dual-classed character since it treats your second dual-class as your "current" class.

There is, however, a mod you can install that lets you acquire one or more (or even all) strongholds. If you feel like checking it out (and you have a save game that you can reload to prior to completing the de'Arnise Keep quest), you can find the mod here: https://www.gibberlings3.net/files/file/973-the-tweaks-anthology/
himm interesting did not know that "Duel class" and "Muilti class" were different things..
I Guess the next question is to see if I can instal the mod then... I never done a mod for BG before.. This may be stupid but will it work if I am using a MAC version of the game

Yep.

Dual classing is something only a human can do. You stop advancing in one class and begin advancing in another. You'll never level in your first class again.

Multi-classing is something only non-humans can do. You'll advance both/all of your classes at the same time for your entire career.
Note that, although you can never again advane further in your first class after you've dual-classed, the abilities of your first class, up to the level you reached in it, are re-activated once you reach a higher level in your second class. If you've thus re-activated your first class then the stronghold for either class will be available (assuming you haven't already obtained one of them) as if you were multi-class.
Thanks for the heads up Ydobemos.
IWhen I made my Hero for BG1, I was following a guide that recomended doing "Fighter/Mage" mostly to get the fighters skills with swords and helmets and other things. And then mage buffs for melee and other things.

I will look into trying to level up the FIghter class ot match the mage class. Of course the other option is installing a mod that allows for any Stronghold with any case. And figure out how to do that.....

On a Mac.....

You can't do that with a dual classed character. Not without cheating. You have to wait until your fighter class comes back into play by levelling up your mage to one level higher. So if your fighter was level 7 when you dual classed, your mage will have to get to level 8 for the fighter class to be back in play.
