OK, I'm in the Underdark and have this great drow armor - I know it will disintegrate when exposed to sunlight. So a couple of questions : if I put it in a Bag of Holding and only bring it out when in a dungeon - will that work??

Where is best place to sell the excess? I've got a lot in my bag, but the sale price down in Underdark is very low- seems like 10% of what equivalent "regular" armor of same nmuber would sell for. Can it survive long enough to sell on the surface? Better prices there or not??

It will disintegrate as soon as you reach the surface. I don't know about the bag of holding, but the armor disappears immediately.
It will disintegrate even in the bag of holding. There is a trick to keep it but it only works for SoA and as soon as ToB starts the drow gear you kept from game exploits will disintegrate. Leaving you with no armor. It's best to just use the armor you have.

So what's the trick - did a search and can't find it (^&(%^ Bioware old forum only lets you search 2010 and 2011, and their new forum is almost empty)

It's a lot of work. The trick is to not let the game run while you're in the exit area.with the items in your inventory :

1. Immediately pause the game when you gain control of the
party after leaving the underdark, before the drow equipment
decays. Transfer ALL the drow stuff you want to keep on to
one person and have that person drop it all into a pile on
the ground. You can then unpause it. Adamantine dust will
appear in your inventory just like if the items decayed, but
they will still be on the ground. Also, opening the bag of
holding seems to decay items as well even if paused, so do
not put anything you want to keep in there.

2. Next, string your characters to the edge of the map, and
have one of them as close as you can get without trying to
exit the screen. The trick here is to have the people
close enough together that they may pass items still. Keep
the character that dropped the items in the same spot so
that he can pass them all to the next person.

3. Now, repause the game, and have the character over the
stack of items pick them up and pass them down the line of
characters until the person near the edge has them. Have
that person drop them all in a pile on the ground again.
(Since the game is paused here, you are in effect, moving
the items to the edge of the map before any time can pass,
so they do not decay.)

4. Move your whole party close enough to the edge of the map so
that you can leave the area with just a single click and no
one will have to walk. Leave the guy on the stack of items
again.

5. Pause again, and pick up all the equipment, passing some of
it to other people if you need to again. Leave the
inventory screen, and click where the party will leave the
area. Then unpause, and the party will leave before the
items decay.

Ugh...

choose chaotic neutral to get a ferret.

Quayle: Is that a ferret in your pants or are you glad to see me?
Imoen: Ugh!!!

remove all equipment from your character except drow armor,

Or the rod from unseeing eye quest....(yum...unstoppable ranged Harm spell, ignores magic resistance, no save...hmmm) you choose which is better...heh...

now have ferret pickpocket your character. the "pocket" your familiar stores the stuff it pickpocket bypasses all checks, including the insta-death from leaving the unseeing eye with the all-powerful rod...

later release ferret, and have it give you back your stuff...

drow stuff isn't that great, but the rod is...wicked. kill ANY dragon in the game with rod used by project image and one cast of magic missile...leave it in a chest when going to underdark, however.... :P

Kezardin =
that is insane! How did anybody ever figure that out?? Had to take the proverbial infinite number of monkeys on an infinite number of typewriters !!!

I think I'll just stick to regular armor, thanks for the info though

Mike
If your in multiplayer im pretty sure you can just export a character holding the gear you want and then import him back in when you get past the underdark exit area. All of these tricks are silly though because you loose all drow gear in ToB and the GOG version has ToB automatically installed.
You can do all that, or you can just respawn the items once you leave the underdark exit area (and again after the script runs in the tob start area).

Seriously, if you're willing to exploit a bug like that you might as well cheat painlessly :D

Easy to find the commands/codes on places like gamefaqs
