Hi. I just killed the unseeing eye beholder and went up to the area where Gaal and his guards are to finish them off and get their loot drops. One of the loot items is supposed to be the heavy crossbow of accuracy. My problem is the guards fled the area when I came into the initial meeting area where you first talk to Gaal. He was in his room alone, and I killed him, but the guards left before I could kill them and get the crossbow. Is this normal?

The crossbow is a drop from the guard captain, but if you kill the unseeing eye (their 'god') most of the guards will run off. Gaal will try to get them to rally: "Come back! The Unseeing Eye has been killed but not all is lost! Let us avenge him and make his visions become a reality. Come back, you fools!", but to no avail. Yes, it's normal. You've lost the chance.
