So I finally finished Baldur's Gate - I was even able to use my savegames from 1999 (yes really). I now want to play the Tales of the Sword Coast expansions but I can't get to the right areas.

After I killed Severok the game automatically made a "Final - Save", but loading it up took me to just before the big bad fight.

I left the area and went to the bridge just outside Baldur's Gate, then went north on the side of the river closest to BG. I got to a farm, but that's it. I can't go further North. Going north on the other side of the river doesn't open a new area either.

Help anyone?

Are you playing the original game, or EE? Your game does have TotSC, right?

You have any mods?

You can't go north from that farm; it's the northernmost point of the world map. Have you tried going west from that area?

If you want, you can teleport to Ulgoth's Beard by opening the console (CTRL + TAB for original game, CTRL + SPACE for EE) and typing:

CLUAConsole:MoveToArea("AR1000")

(For EE you can just select the area in the area list and click Travel)

Thank you!

I'm playing the original version., I can't head west from the farm either, but with a bit of googling the teleport trick worked.

The console isn't automatically there on the original version, you have to edit the "Baldur.ini" file, I found how to do that here: https://baldursgate.fandom.com/wiki/Console

Annoying that I won't be able to fast travel the normal way though. It could be some quirk resulting from me importing my save game from the original version back from '99, but everything else has worked fine.
The worldmap.wmp file determines which areas become available when traveling from which areas, and all worldmap data is loaded when you start a new game. Either your previous installation didn't have TotSC, or it wasn't "The Original Saga" version, or it was modded somehow.

It wasn't the "the original saga" version, it was the actual original saga played on 5CDs and installed on Windows 98.
Hmm, as I remember, there was a file in the installation folder which converts saves created without TotSC.
Normally the installation setup of TotSC asks to do this, but you can do it later.
If your saves from 1999 where saved without addon installed, than this could be your problem.
So I do not know if you still need this information, but I want to put it here for reference.

From Readme_totsc.txt:

MCONVERT.EXE
When you install Tales of the Sword Coast, we recommend you accept the
option to automatically convert your saved games. However, if you
don't select this option, you can convert your saved games later using
MCONVERT.EXE which is included in the root of your Tales CD.

Thanks. I have finished the game and moved on, but this info could be good for someone else. And I was wondering what the problem could be.
