Good day everyone, I purchased Baldur's gate II with the intention of playing it with my brother on the same network. I downloaded and installed on both machines, launched it up, made sure to run in windowed mode to avoid crashing, selected TCP/IP, I created the game, he inputs my local IP, joins my game, but then after about 30 seconds later, his game crashed. During that time I couldn't assign him to a character slot either.

We tried inverting the roles, and the same thing happens: the person who joins disconnects after 30 seconds in the lobby.

Does anyone have a solution to this?
And yes, we did disable firewalls.

Thank you very much in advance,
Nicholas.

Many many many people have the exact same problem. The best solution I can find is to link up via http://www.gameranger.com/

If you wanted to work on something else, make sure you're in compatibility mode for the actual game and not just the launcher.

If you're running Windows XP, people tend to have better luck with installing the IPX protocol and working with IPX than TCP/IP. (control panel -> network connections -> right click your connection and go to properties -> Click INSTALL -> Select Protocol and click Add -> Select NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Transport Protocol)
