I know this might sound really dumb.

But i have just started , saw gordons death, picked up the stuff and walking around. I see the road goes of to the right.

Coast path or seomthing.

How do i leave the map. I stand on the road to the right and left into the egde of screen and nthing.

Just exit the screen. You get an arrow symbol on the pointer when it is close enough to the exit. Much like the Door symbol you get when you enter buildings.
