I recently installed BG2 for the first time in ages and I notice that the shadows in the unexplored areas look really ugly (see the room to the right of my charcter in the screenshot).

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit with an Nvidia 480 and the latest drivers. This is a fresh install of the game, with no mods. Any idea how to fix these shadows?

This looks exactly like the problem i had, but only in BG1... Never had this in the second game. But as it looks the same, maybe the same solution will help.

This worked for me. I had the same problem. Good luck

If it's a DirectDraw issue, my first link should also work and you won't have to switch DD hardware acceleration back on for other games, since you can permanently apply the fix for your BG(2) install.
Thanks for the help guys, all sorted now.
