I played BG1 and loved the music, i just got BG2 and there's no music in town or the taverns, etc... only combat/the menu. I thought maybe that's just the way they made it but there's a post on the forum about the "the theme from Waukeen's Promenade" which makes me wonder if mine is just broken? Is there supposed to be music generally in BG2?

There is, but not all the time. It does not play repeatedly, you may hear nothing for half an hour wandering around, and then it'll kick in a slow peaceful tune just once. It also plays during romance talks. :)

So just keep playing. I'd say if you hear it during combat, everything is fine.

Thanks, ya I thought that might be it. I'll def keep playing, the game seems pretty great otherwise.

Quick saving generally restarts music tracks if you are interested in doing so.
