So i installed Baldur's gate along with the widescreen mod, GUI mod and the fixpack and i'm gettin a serious lag ingame! it's like playing with 10fps and the cameras really sluggish.
It seems like bg lags even without any of those mods!
Anyone else having this problem? Bg2 works just beautifully
Any help would be MUCH appreciated!!!

EDIT: Ok so i figured out it's because im playing in 1024x768 but why is is so damn laggy?
Tutu doesn't quite work for me since it says something about "specifying your baldur's gate 2 folder" even if it's the correct folder and i'd like to play with the original engine but with a bit higher resolution

I'm also having this problem at 1680x1050. Laggy and slow jerky movement. very painful.

When I watch youtube videos of people using mods they dont have this. How can I fix this problem?

I followed the guide GOG posted about and installed pretty much all the mods recommended. (I have never played this game before)

Edit: Lowering graphics hardware acceleration to a couple of notches above completely off seems to smooth things out, but makes everything else on my computer slow as hell.

Try this:

http://www.shsforums.net/topic/48732-ddraw-fix-for-slowdownsstuttering/

Downloading wine3d.exe and followinging the instructions in this link helps in almost all infinity engine games so far. I use the libwine.dll, wined3d.dll, and ddraw.dll from $SYSDIR (works like a charm in BG1/2, Icewind Dale 2 and Planescape: Torment. I haven't tried it with IWD1.

With this fix there is no need to lower hardware acceleration.

Thank you for the reply, unfortunately, after pasting those three files in the Baldurs Gate 2 folder, the game now crashes immediately upon launch. Removal of the files caused it to launch properly again. Very odd. Does it matter that I'm running Windows XP?

Thank you for your help, I'd hate to have to mess with acceleration every time I want to play the game.

"DirectDraw Emulation may not work on any OS before Windows XP"

Where did you guys get those Wine3D files? I only found an exe that required installing in safe mode.

Before XP means it should work on XP right?

How to get the files confused me at first too. You have to open the exe in 7zip and extract the files from it. I've never done that before and it took a little messing around to figure it out, but it works. The exe file extracts just like a rar or zip.

Bah! Thank you, I'll try again.

That solution may only work with BG1 perhaps, I've already did the Trilogy thing so the game is run via BG2's engine.

So nobody else is crashing due to these files? Guess I'll just have to keep dialing down acceleration...

And yeah, Im running the modded BG trilogy through BG 2. Not sure if this would work with just the regular vanilla BG12 since I deleted it after modding was complete

Just a quick question;
There doesn't seem to be a way to "rest until fully healed" or any kind of stuff like that?
I rest for 8 hours and just recover 1hp? Is this the way baldur's gate 1 is supposed to be?
If so, is there any mod to fix this

I've that in options but I also have installed recommended fixes for BG.

I followed this guide to the letter: Baldur's Gate Trilogy

Except I haven't touched number 14, the tweak packs as you sort of need knowledge about the game or recommendations from others. The rest is quite easy. For Trilogy to work you need Baldur's Gate II as well.

Thank you very much for that!
but...i have my recent baldur's gate 1 save and i really don't feel like starting a new game since i've worked my ass off for the solofighter.
Dont tell me i have to start all over again...

I'm not entirely sure as I never mix saves for me, I would start over as you might end up with issues later on and then you will have to start over and lose even more time.

However, I think I've read that the widescreen mod requires to start over as it changes the save files, at least for Planescape Torment and it uses the same engine.

I don't know how much you value widescreen, that option and bug fixes but considering it's a deep RPG I wouldn't take my chances on luck.
