I have to say, I really just don't like the feel of the EE editions. Something about mixing the new and old gets rid of the feel of the original.
Also, I loved the old cutscenes, rather than the new ones.

The new intro is just so bad it is hard to believe. In general, the new cutscenes are really poor, really amateurish...
Just came here to say I agree with the OP. The original game is cohesive and whole in a way the EE will never be.

Just look at the various 'features' of the EE
- Portraits that don't match the original art style for the new characters
- UI that removes the feeling of the games aesthetic style and is less useful ie more clicks to do things
- character move speed has been increased throwing off the pacing of the game and forcing you to be more careful exploring
- new characters feel out of place and are fully voiced rather than partially like is standard
- backgrounds look muddy and character sprites look indistinct
- New movies are terrible and feel rushed
- new characters are also introduced in a way hard to ignore. ie. Neera you run into and are immediately drawn into potential combat, Monk guy keeps repeating the same lines again and again outside the inn and its annoying.
- new writing is tonally off from original and stands out in a bad way
- importing classes from bg2 was a bad decision. The core game was not designed around these classes; throwing off the experience.

@Blakes7
this is false tho:
"Monk guy keeps repeating the same lines again and again outside the inn and its annoying."
its not happening to me.

As for rest i actually like most of changes u stated as hated.
All in all EE is fine and i am happy to see that BeamDog is doing changes to such an old game.
I am fairly certain that they will get some problems sorted out.

As for UI i actually love it.
I loved that black ui design since i saw it in NWN1.it looks adorable.

P.S
You can most certainly snub Neera if you want.On two occasions before fight even begins.
So i do not see problem there at all.
You are just overreacting a bit it seems to me.

No it isn't false. That happens.

You can eventually turn her down, but you absolutely cannot avoid the player-loses-control scripted encounters. It's annoying.

That's the statement of a fanboy, seems to me.
@Hickory
No it doesnt happen.
I am sitting right in front of monk ,better to check again right?fail

"That's the statement of a fanboy, seems to me."?
What is this suppose to mean?out of normal verbs and trying to insult or something?fail.

Why would script based sequence of meeting Neera be annoying?
each to its own i guess. It doesn't annoy me.

Yes, it does.

It means what it says.

Like I said, a fanboy.
The Enhanced Edition has some nice quality-of-life tweaks and conveniences that I appreciate, but I think there's certainly a case to be made in favor of TuTu over EE. What I've seen of the new content in my current playthrough of BG1 EE has not been... encouraging, and while you can ignore the new characters after their rather out-of-place introductions, it all feels a little too "Star Wars Special Edition" for my tastes.

If we're talking about an unmodded vanilla version of Baldur's Gate 1 though, I don't think I can go that far. I'm too used to some of the conveniences and engine-level improvements of BG2 to want to play the original as it was originally made.
I cant play Vanilla BG1. Not after I played BG:Trilogy mod. With BGT, I think BG1 is the best of all. Even better than BG2.

I like many aspects of EE editions. However, there is something off about it that didnt give me the taste of BGT. I only played for a few hours before i dropped them both (BG1:EE and BG2:EE).
Does anyone know if there is a new version of the TWM_GUI beta 0,994 mod?

The last version I can find was released in 2009. Please tell me someone is working on this.
I agree that EE brought more bad things than good things to the original. I don't understand why they did not allow to change ingame resolution at least, because zooming in makes the terrain looks blurry. Sprites in 2.0 looks also blurry even if you disable the black outerline from options. The UI looks generic and lost the original charm. Some of the fonts displayed in game do not match the original font and looks way off. Overall the artistic impression is far worse than of the original, Beamdog seems lacking a competent artist.

With the poor overall writing of SoD (and no, it's not about only one character, but the overall dialogues as well) Beamdog proved they are not capable of making a deep RPG on their own. Beamdog may have brought new fans to the series but also lost old ones. After the mixed reception of SoD, which they used to test the water and see if they can handle a new game, and hoped for a big success which is clearly not, I think they could say bye to making BG3.

gunman_: ......, I think they could say bye to making BG3.
Please please please dont let them make BG3. The bhaalspawm saga ended and it ended perfectly (I never finished the game myself but watched tons of letsplays). If they want to make a game, They should make a completely new game. Some suggestions for them...

Luskan's Lords
Merchants of Waterdeep
Mages of Netheril

Blakes7: - UI that removes the feeling of the games aesthetic style and is less useful ie more clicks to do things
Really now?

1: Having to reassign quickspell slots after you use them
2: Having to go to another menu before getting to press rest
3: Having to remove your shield to equip 2 handed weapons
4: Having to press confirm to unmemorize spells
5: Having to click twice to read spell descriptions (right click then close)
6: Having to click detect traps to detect traps (EE does this by included script)
7: Having to do manual saves (EE does much better automatic saves)
8: Having to click single player, load game then find the game to load rather than just continue
9: Having to click every single corpse on the ground for looting
10: Having to scroll menus by clicking a lot since no scroll wheel support
11: Having to deal with ammo stacks limited to 20

You have to double click to travel to places and load games, but that's really minor compared to all the clicks the EE saves you. Not even getting into the higher stack limit and new containers that makes inventory much more convenient (though, less authentic).

Well SAID !
+1
So I just went to the new area that's a part of Neera's personal quest in BG1 Enhanced Edition and... let's say there's a rather obvious difference in visual quality between that and the rest of the original game.
