JunglePredator: This isn't the first game GOG has done this to.
Had to download all of Grim Dawn cause they wouldn't issues a
single intermediate patch.
How do we make GOG pay attention?
alcaray: You open a support ticket. When you get responses you share them with us. Warning it's not impossible that this is a problem on the Larian side. Even so, GOG should be made aware that they have customers having a bad experience.
Here is the response from GOG:
Hello,
If a patch would be available, we would deliver that. As you are able to find on your GOG account, under Baldur's Gate 3, we already provided three patches for the game.
However, the game is still in development and both frequent as well as massive changes are expected in various updates. Sometimes patches for offline builds will take a bit more time to make and additionally unfortunately if an update will require provide changes in almost all files architecture, we might not be able to release a patch at all and only provide latest build of the game.
If you do not wish to redownload the offline installer every time where a patch is not available, but you wish to keep the game up to date, then your best option will be to use GOG GALAXY. You can download it here:

Then we went on to debate this further and the answer basically was - use GOG Galaxy or suffer re-downloading the game when GOG or the developer decide not to issue a specific patch. I did not get down to the nitty gritty of whether this is GOG not willing to do the patch or Larian - but the morale of the story is that GOG will not be providing standalone patches for every version of the game. This was a game breaking bug for me in early access and I stopped playing. I will not be refunding the game as I think Larian is doing a great job so don't want to punish them but I will not participate in any future early access title through GOG.
I had the same issue with GOG in 2018 regarding Kingdom Come Deliverance where GOG would also refuse to provide standalone patches for some updates. If you played that game, you would know that the download size is enormous (for 2018 - Larian has certainly outdone that by another 20 GB).
