Baldurs Gate 3 Verify/Repair fails

What to do?
A. It scans files.
B. It downloads the update.
C. Starts update but fails at roughtly 96 % every time.
D. Restart this whole process endless loop.

I have Windows 10 English. Game bought from gog.com

Gaming laptop bought on Black Friday considerable discount November 2018:
MSI GP63 8RE-651NE I5/8/1128/1060
CPU is Intel I5 4 cores 8 threads Processor Base Frequency
2.30 GHz
Max Turbo Frequency
I dont know but more then 3Ghz
Nvidia GeForce® GTX 1060 with 6GB DDR5
8 GB RAM
SSD is to small for games...
128 GB SSD GOG Galaxy installed on that 15.6 GB free
OS Windows 10 Home English language ceme with MSI laptop preinstalled.

Game installed under 1 TERA harddrive.
Currently 113 GB free.
OS: Windows 10 Home English (I like English when I use computer)

GOG Galaxy install issue I solved by temporary reducing Windows 10 OS security settings that does not solve this issue though.

Security software that are not related to Windows 10:
A. Zonealarm free firewall.
B. Avira Free Security as antivirus software.
C. Spybot Search and Destroy as other none virus malware remover.
D. Ccleaner automatic Temporary Internet files remover,

Trouble shooting with these I can not really disable Zonelarm unless I uninstall it.... even if I would force shut down it end task it restarts itself immediately. I have tested temporary set it into GAMING mode allow all traffic.

Update fails at 96% always.

what to do?

= post your full system stats i.e, what Cpu, Gpu, how much Ram and what harddrives

you already have a post asking why the game takes forever to load saves so this is going to be a hardware / software issue with your machine more than just this game

the update will be failing because it doesn't have the spare space to unpack the files... 15G is nowhere near enough for modern Windows

your game saves load slow because you only have 8G of Ram... I would look to double this as soon as you can just for general lifetime use of the laptop

i would keep spybot but remove the rest... Ccleaner is ok for removing a stubon file but doesn't need to live installed on your system until you need it but its your computer mate

Well first of all I can play on my Desktop that has 16 GB RAM but you can call me lazy gamer since I like to be in sofa or bed if it is turn based combat or turn based game.

MY C drive is only a 128GB drive,,,
Game should be installed under D drive.

Wit huge effort I have uninstalled all Windows APP that i dont need example games and lots of stuff.
+
this:
Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

- Reduce size of paging file in advanced system properties

- switch off hibernate functionality, running in cmd this command "powercfg.exe -h off" as administrator

- run Disk Cleanup as administrator and delete system restore points, windows update files, previous windows installation and drivers.

I have now free size 69.5 GB HDD (before Zonealarm uninstall) in C drive SSD...
D drive that is hard drive has more then 100 GB free.

It will not happen that I will buy more RAM for my laptop.
Probably I will buy new gaming laptop at end of year 2021 perhaps Black Friday 2021.
Reason is then my 3 year warrantry has gone out and there will be laptops with Nvidia 3000 series graphic cards or better AMD graphic cards if prefer AMD instead of Nvidia.

I can afford it buy new gaming laptop year 2021. I am landlord (not millionaire or what I would call rich) but many would call me slightly wealthy Middle Middle class or Upper Middle Class depending on view I guess. If you do not know what Upper Middle class is in networth then use google.

You know what fo test you teory it is Zonealarm I can uninstall it temporary+ reboot try installation and then try install with Windows 10 own firewall enabled

Finally if we talk about Baldurs Gate 3 FULL release my be best guess is towards end of 2021 or during 2022. I am in no hurry to upgrade hardware yet for this game. Well next laptop will have 16 GB RAM for sure and much bigger SSD drive as C drive example 512 GB SSD or 1 TERA SSD,

installing the games on D drive still means Galaxy uses your temp folder to unpack patches and by default that will be C drive... on my laptop its G

i agree that getting a new laptop is better value for money in most cases... bg3 on any laptop is pushing it but I do it too so can't throw the first stone ;)
Windows asks for permission to install the updates via an Admin account at 96% on my machine. The request hides in the background unless you go to it in the bottom task bar. Hope this helps.

This post was from like 2020. The user has either solved it, or given up by now. They were talking about buying a new laptop in 2021.
@malonetp if your system is asking permissions to install update files at any point after starting then your system is set up wrong and thats upto you to fix at your end

people using off line install patches instead of Galaxy will want to take time to right click the patch.exe and select 'run as admin' each time... this simple step avoids a lot of headache
