Hello!

Patch 4 will be coming sometime this week. Some of the content to be added is "updated cinematics, Tieflings, new spells, and cows". Apparently the patch is going to be massive. One of the sources says we will get the "biggest patch notes ever forged in the fiery pits of Larian". As mentioned in the title, it will reset current saves. If you want to keep your saved games as they are now, here are the instructions:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-Select the game from the owned games section

-Click the settings button top right and select manage installation > configure

-To disable auto-updates, there is a checkbox “automatically update to new version” > uncheck this box to stay on the current patch

-Unchecking this box will let you roll back to a previous version
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

More info about the game will be revealed in The Panel From Hell, which takes places on Feb 17th (this Wednesday). An interesting, but slightly unrelated bit of info: the panel will have Jeremy Crawford. He worked on the 5th edition rules for D&D.

I'm assuming will be treated to another 88 gig download.

I wonder if this means that you could *not* subsequently roll back *from* this release to prior because that would require more programming and it would require Galaxy to run a program to unconvert the saves.
if you want to roll back a Galaxy game just make a copy of all the game files before you download the update... will save you hours of download time when you roll back

however there isn't much point to rolling back bg3 at this early stage of dev

So are the standalone installers updated? Is it available to play now? What version version is the new version? I played the game last year, but I didn't play it since. Now I want to try the new class, but I don't want to download the installer yet just to find out I downloaded the wrong version.

It's not available yet. The current version is 4.1.90.2222. I apologize for not knowing about the standalone installers, as I use Galaxy for pretty much everything.
Yes, well... this is why I liked GOG in the first place. They don't force me to use another software for installing games I bought. Though I must say, being as large as it is, installing it through the Galaxy client seems to be the reasonable choice. That way you don't have to reserve twice the disk space. I guess I could install Galaxy, install Baldur's Gate 3, and then uninstall Galaxy and play Baldur's Gate 3, because it is still free of DRM, even if another program was used to install it.

About the patch... Larian said in the stream event that it will be launched this week. I'm rather surprised, since it is almost friday and no patch was released. Oh, well. Guess I'll wait some more. Thank you very much for the info on the current version, now I know what to look out for.
We might get it very soon.

Edit: Patch 4 is out on Galaxy. It's 55GB but given that they reorganized the files to ensure smaller patches in the future that was to be expected.
"In the future you can expect our patches to be smaller in download and install size, regardless of how hefty they may be. The short version is, we've split large pak files into smaller chunks. To put that in Wild Shape terms, our patches will go from chonky badger to svelte feline."

Is 4.1.90.6165 EA the latest version? If so, the offline installer is already available.

L.E. Actually, no. Just took a look on the changelog topic.

Standalone installers updated (16 December 2020; no changelog):
- Windows: 4.1.90.2222 EA ⇒ 4.1.90.6165 EA;

Guess I'll just have to wait a few more days. I hope GOG adds it soon.

Yes! The offline installers are now available in my account. Thank you very much, GOG! Installing as I write this. Thank you again for all the effort to keep offline installers on par with Galaxy installations. I know it takes more work to do things twice, and I appreciate not forgetting those of us who would still prefer it to keep online interactions to a minimum.

And thank you for your help as well. I was able to compare the version I installed from the offline installer with the one you have from the LariLauncher, and they're one and the same. So now I know for sure I'm on the right patch.

OK, so there is a 50+ GB standalone download for 4.1.99.3036 and an update 4.1.99.0983 to 4.1.99.3036 with 63 MB .

Is there / will there be an update 4.1.90.6165 to 4.1.99.3036 (or even 4.1.99.0983)?

It's a bit annoying downloading the whole game again and again and ....

every 5 [or so] patches Gog resets their count and you have to start again from scratch... thats the price you pay for the stand alone installs
