Ah, my good fellows!
Neil is a true Infinity Engine fan. He applied for the role thinking it was either going to be Baldur's Gate 3 or Icewind Dale 3. The casting crew tried hiding the name, but he immediately recognized it as a D&D campaign. He was given an option to apply for 12 races and auditioned for 10 of them. He said he didn't care what role he got, as long as he was part of the project.
"I'll play anything, I don't care. Like I'll play a goblin holding a pint".
He was then asked to do a demo of a vampire character, and that's how we got Astarion.
