My GPU keeps crashing while playing BG3.

It keeps happening around the Emarald Grove, specifically when I have a character near the treasure chest buried on the hill in the north west, that you access by going through that little cave that has some tieflings planning a mutiny.

Also whenever I talk to Raphael. The screen glitches up around the bottom, and then the screen truns off but I can hear music still.

Then I have to restart my computer and often I can't run anything until I re-enable my GPU.

So something is happening that disables the GPU.

What do i do?
Or rather What do Larian do??
if your gpu is crashing then thats the driver

but it sounds like your game that is crashing so that would be Ram, heat or your driver... in that order

what Larian does is fuck all... they have xbox to sort out first

what you do = start by telling us your system specs... you must have at least the min since you are playing the game so are you also running somethiing else like discord or youtube while playing
While I agree with ussnorway that the most likely cause is outdated drivers, I did run into a similar issue that would only manifest when I played Torchlight3 - the computer ran fine until I was playing the game, but randomly I'd lose screen and/or get artifacts. Occasionally the whole system would just suddenly reboot.

I thought it was because Torchlight3 was in beta. Turns out, my video card had a hardware problem that only showed up when under heavy load. I only narrowed it down to the video card when I switched to running fallout4 and saw the same behavior.

Do you have any other software that's as computationally expensive as BG3? Or could you maybe try running a video card benchmark (those tend to push the hardware to its limits)? The next step is to isolate the problem to a specific component. If you can cause the problem with different software, you know it's not BG3 that's the problem. If you can swap out the video card and the problem persists, you know it's not the video card, etc...

Have you tried Vulkan or DirectX 11 (which ever you are not currently using)?

Its just below the play button on the launcher.
