Got a lot to say but if any detail helps, I'm putting it out there. My game is modded and was working fine until patch 7 came along. I updated my mods to accommodate the new patch. The mod manager now says that the game data folder is not valid. Right now I have it at games\baldurs gate 3\data at the recommendation of asking another forum. Previously, it was C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Baldurs Gate 3. If I tried to play the game would slow down to a quick halt after the cutscene that introduces Minsc as that's where I am. I just disabled ImprovedUI and that somehow let's it run (albeit at a really choppy pace). Does anyone have any idea on how to get it working?

you should restart a new game after loading each patch i.e, patch 5 to patch 6 = start again and patch 6 to patch 7 also = start again

that said, how many actual mods have you installed?

I can give you the list if that helps. Right now, I'm considering replacing some of these mods with their first party equivalent and seeing if that helps.

ImprovedUI, 5eSpells and the List, UnlockLevelCurve and the spells that go with that, Artificer, CompatibilityFramework, Community Library, Fantastical Compendium and a good number of the races that it came with, Pirate subclass for rogue, roguesextra

Do people have a mod that actually works properly, for extending level cap?
I have 200h in, with the latest patched BG3, and I've been trying the two remove-level12-cap mods
in the in-game mod launcher, but they don't work properly.
With one of the mods, the experience gaining is super slow, or it doesn't work at all.
Finally got Shadowheart to levelup 12->13, but the actual levelup screen bugs out, just a black screen,
and pressing ESC gets you back out to the regular game without leveling up.
And trying to switch mods, it just jams the whole computer and I have to restart :)

I had a problem with one other mod where Jaheira lost all of his advanced shapeshift forms,
which I really like as a battle tactics so I had to abandon that one.

Great game, but for the past 30h or so not really playing an RPG, just collecting loot, feels a bit lacking in that.
Maybe not the "normal" way of playing the game.. but I love it so much I do nearly all the quests,
and soon I have nothing but the end game left :D

Edit : Further investigation : I tried reloading the same save, that jammed my computer, this time it loaded lol
Apparently now I have a different "no-level-cap" mod running, Shadowheart is successfully leveled up to lvl16,
the rest of the party has at least some exp towards level 13... Progress? :D
Ah, I wonder if switching characters out from the party then back in, somehow makes the mod work...
*tries*
Yup, now I got all the rest of the party leveled up properly, but problem is you can't switch out your main character.
Therefore this method didn't work it, but at least I got a crazy strong rest of the party :)

no of course not... Larian is still making changes so mods are not going to have a baseline that everyone agrees to yet

I don't have first-hand knowledge of using these mods. But what you describe sounds like you are using a version of the mods that worked on a previous version of the game.

Yeah, could be that.

I decided to only use mods which are already available via the in-game mod launcher (the one in the main menu screen), so if they are out of date, then nothing I can do about it.

I did catch a comment in steam discussion where someone said the mods are meant to be installed right at the start of a playthrough. Not sure how official that is though, and again, nothing I can do about it :D

But yeah it's good enough like this for me : everyone else is already 2-3 levels higher than the original intended levelcap, while the main char is stuck at 12th... And doing all the side quests gives all the loot so... End game should be pretty easy :)
