Has anyone else received an error when trying to install BG3 v4.1.1.6072089 on MacOS?

Any attempt resulted in the following error message:
The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.installer.pagecontroller error -1.)
Couldn’t open “baldur_s_gate_3_english_BG3_MacOS_v4_1_1_6072089_Gold.pkg”.

MacOS 14.7.1 on Apple Silicon M2 Max
Offline Installer
1.7 TB of free drive space

couldn't open tends to be permission, is that TB of free space on external drive perhaps?

Thanks for the reply, but I have read & write access to the install files which all reside on the local SSD.

I've already tried a few workarounds like unpacking the .pkg file and starting the installer from there, but to no avail. When doing a web search on the error message, most results indicate a corrupt file (people confimed that re-downloading solved their problem).

I also tried installing BG3 on another Mac running MacOS 13, same error.

Has anyone else tried the offline installer of v4.1.1.6072089? It seems to me that these files are damaged and need to be re-uploaded by GOG.

Installing with GOG Galaxy worked, but when I start BG3 directly by clicking the icon (i.e. not from inside the Galaxy app) the application crashes immediately. Is that normal behavior when using Galaxy?

Another annoyance: GOG Galaxy doesn't close properly and needs to be force quit every time.
NB: I've configured the app to exit when closing the window. Using 2.0.77.21 which seems to be the latest version. Can older (non-beta) versions be downloaded for Mac?

Yes I have the same problem.
I've done another test on this issue. Unpacking the baldur_s_gate_3_english_BG3_MacOS_v4_1_1_6072089_Gold.pkg installer manually was successful. Inside there's (among other files and folders) a package.pkg file, and this one can neither be unpacked nor started (same error message). This is probably the culprit.
As long as nobody reports a successful installation from the offline files for MacOS, I assume that the installer is corrupt and needs to be fixed.

Having the same issue with MacOS 15.1 on an Macbook Air 2020 M1.
Add me to the list. Same problem with offline installer of BG3 V.4.1.1.6072089 on MacOS 15.1, M4.

When I unpack the *.pkg file manually, I can at least start the Larian Launcher, but of course this is not very helpful either.

---

Edit: Redl'ed the whole thing a second time but no luck. I think I will give Gog Galaxy a try (hm, GoGal sounds like the brother of Shodan, doesn't it? ;-) ).

---

Edit-2: DL'ed offline installer files via GoGal-BG3Game-Extras (same shit - different try), I also tried a manual pkg-install via terminal (same shit - different try; other mac games work without complaining, just tested again).

Therefore:

As long as nobody reports a successful installation from the offline files for MacOS, I assume that the installer is corrupt and needs to be fixed.
Seconded.

---

Edit-3: Since I had to wait for the 4th download anyway I opened a support ticket. Maybe they look into those files. At least the download via GoGal worked perfectly and I have to admit that the program is quite convenient (and yes I’m looking directly at you guy who uploaded 55 single installation files - APFS can handle files larger than I can even imagine, just saying …). First game start was slower than romancing Shadowheart, but now BG3 runs fine.

Hey, hey, I’m playing Baldur’s Gate 3 on … a Mac, haha - these are crazy times, lol … ;-)

---

Edit-4: I haven't heard anything from support, which was to be expected. They love their Mac customers.

So the current status looks like this: offline Installer does not work, GoGal recently had an update and now crashes on startup (but it only crashes halfway - you still have to shut it down manually), I've just got a new game on my hands and now I can't play at all - what a load of crap. And of course BG3 cannot be started manually outside of GoGal.

I had a look at Steam today ... hm ... they have quite an interesting portfolio of Mac games ... I'm just saying ...

Edit-4b: At least this is a known problem and a terminal input (/Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/redists/GalaxyCommunication) solves it.

Sorry, I can't help with GOG client not stopping. I have to force quit it as well.

I have been able to launch Baldur's Gate 3 without using the GOG client. For me, doing a get info on the actually application file of Baldurs' Gate 3 in the finder. In the get info panel, check open with rosetta, the game launcher will open with rosetta (and you will not be able to select arm or intel, I am on a M3).

The game will run native (checked this using activity monitor) when is starts. Now I just start the game from the launch pad icon.

This is indeed an interesting trick as it takes you to the main menu. Unfortunately, BG3 then crashes when I actually start a new game. I also have to create a new profile every time.

I have therefore decided to use Gog Galaxy just to start the game - as soon as you are in the launcher, you can end GoGal manually. I have also completely deactivated its background services.
