Galaxy takes a LONG time to show the ui (task manager shows in running).

I had EA and uninstalled today - had to run the uninst00.exe (sp?) in the dir to actually uninstall.

Now I go to install and I can 'manage my installation' and 'uninstall' but i can't install the game - the button shows but is greyed out.

If i go to 'installed' games, it isn't listed.

i have had such high hopes for galaxy but compared to steam this is a showstopper for a game i've been patiently waiting for.

Any suggestions?

EDIT: It also says "no updates available" when I try to check for updates and i can 'view patch notes' but the version is 4.1.1.2154614 which i don't think is the released version. why are installers so freaking hard?

EDIT2: Uninstalled galaxy. Downloaded the BG3 branded galaxy link from the BG3 gog page. At the end of the install "Essential components needed to start GOG Galaxy are missing or incorrectly configured. If this continues, please reinstall the application".

The installer window stays up for another minute (yes that long) and then closes.

The process is still in my task manager but not the tray.
I kill the process.
Launch from the start menu.

Again, see the process in task manager but not actually running (GOG Galaxy and GalaxyClientService). After about a minute, i get prompted for galaxy to run as admin. i click ok. And then wait. (this is win10 pro with all updates installed incidentally).

Galaxy asks for creds and I login. It imports my purchases and i tell it to scan folder for games. it does. BG3 NOW shows install button. I click and it is starting to install. Hopefully the actual game. I'll update when more changes.

EDIT3: So after downloading for 3 hours, I come to see galaxy says "Install failed". After downloading 108.40/108.40GB. I click that which takes me to the game page. "Install" is once again greyed out. The error is "E4 Disk access error occurred during installation". Odd - I use this machine daily, play and install games all the time, run various apps and regularly scan my disks for issues (an SSD incidentally).

I can click 'retry' or 'uninstall' (? so its installed then?). I click retry - the progress bar goes to 95%, pauses and then repeat the above. The disk in question has 185GB free on it right now. I can repeat getting this error multiple times. i REALLY don't want to download this game again. Going to see if other posts with this specific issue now.

I have to say this is a hard failure from gog on this. I either apparently have to fight this mess in the (beta mind you) galaxy or download multiple separate 4GB files. How about a 100GB torrent gog at the least? smfh

EDIT4: Rebooted as that seemed (and ofc, read online about doing) prudent. Machine boots up and I launch galaxy. It now has downloads from some games including bg3.

I let that run for some time. I come back to the machine and the game appears installed and ready to play. Finally.

But immediately upon trying, the larian launcher gives an error about "Data Mismatch". According to the linked article, I'm to 'verify'.

I start the verify. The downloads screen says "Scanning installed files". Incidentally, after i rebooted above, it also said this. I'm suspecting this is just going to do the same but i will update once this 'scanning' is done and if i can actually play yet.

MS Defender has (and has had) exceptions for galaxy and i even turned off scanning and firewall during this but that seemed to make no difference. I have latest video drivers for my gpu but i don't think that's relevant right now either.

(posting this exhausting pain in the @$$ in hopes someone knows what's up but more likely to help some other person with this same, terrible experience).

EDIT5: That process finished and trying to play the game does the same thing. I click "Open file list" (in larian launcher) and ALL of the files are in the __redist folder, with all but 3 of them in __redist\DirectX.

I sign up for a larian account (grrrr more accounts to just play a game let alone this second launcher). They tell you all over in the launcher that they've detected a data mismatch and the game may crash. great.

Amazingly, the game does launch. my intent is to play through with a friend but this seems 'resolved' for now. i'll create a new post if the game has issues playing.
