...or my money back.

Forcing Patch 7 and Larian's mod management (and subsequent censorship) on customers is unacceptable. It feels like a bait and switch. And fuck Larian for that!

This is NOT a "live-service" game and the purchaser of the game should be the one to decide which updates they utilize and which they don't, not the publisher!

I'm not mad at GOG, just to be clear. I'm sure Larian didn't consult them, when they handed over their packaged update process. This is 100% on Larian.

I've looked all over the web for a link to Patch 6, and it doesn't seem to exist.

I want to install the game, as it launched (Patch 0); with the option to implement each patch consecutively, stopping at any point I choose (IE: pre-v4.1.1.5932596).

Update: turns out we CAN still roll-back to Patch 6 v4.1.1.5022896 via,

GOG Galaxy / Baldur's Gate 3 / = / Manage Installation / Configure / Installation / ...

...turn off "Automatically updated to the latest version", then select "Version Release - v4.1.1.5022896".

But that's as far back as the list goes and who knows how long it will be before it's pushed off the list entirely, leaving only Patch 7 options. So I guess I did this just in the nick of time. Hope anyone else who wants to stay on Patch 6 knows to do this too, before they miss their chance.

Thank you for the reply.

And sorry if my initial post reads a little unpleasantly. I've put easily hundreds of hours into making mods for this game, and it's super frustrating to not even be able to use mods that I made myself. I don't know how they could get more "trusted", and thousands of people downloaded them from Nexus and never had any technical complaints about them. But apparently Larian thinks they know best so...f-me.

I found this option in the settings only AFTER I uninstalled and reinstalled the game via Galaxy. I swear I looked there before doing so, and no such option was present. When it did show up, I did wonder about that one and the one below it on the list. They aren't labeled as to which patch they fall under, so I figured 'better safe than sorry' and just went with the only one that was labeled "Patch 6".

Again, thank you for the reply. :)

Don’t use GOG Galaxy, and updates won’t be forced on you.

With the DRM-free installers you only download and install an update when you want to, and can keep the installer for the previous versions if you want to keep the ability to get back to these easily.

All true. But for those who haven't used the offline installers before, you need to know that there is only spotty support for them.
-They are not available as quickly as the Galaxy versions.
-If you want a complete record of all the updates you have to watch for all of them and download them immediately. Otherwise they will take them down when a new update becomes available. (There have been cases where a support dude would make a missing patch available for a short time when asked. Haven't heard of this happening for years now, though.)
-They sometimes miss patch updates that they never post for download at all.
-Keeping track of which patch is which is confusing with the crazy long patch IDs.

I don't say this to discourage people from using the offline installers. I say this to prevent some people from flying into a rage when they find out.

I use them exclusively myself and I warehouse installers for the games I like so that they can't be taken away from me.

There's also a checkbox in galaxy to "automatically update to newest version", under Manage Installation -> Configure in your game's menu.

The checkbox is checked by default, but you can uncheck it if you don't want to have an update surprise you.
Unfortunately to my knowledge GoG only ever offers to download the current version of the game.

If you want an old version, you have to download versions and preserve them.
