I used to be play bg3 on my laptop for months but since a few weeks i am unable to play anymore.

Everytime i start up the game, it crashes. It usually crashes after everything is loaded, sometimes i can even load my character's game but it starts crashing when i try to play.

The graphics seem odd too. In the main menu, some of the buildings in the background are neon blue. Same goes for some plants, mirrors and armor in the game. Anything that seems to reflect light it seems.

I don't really know what to do, i've tried everything i can think of: update my driver, relocate the gamefiles etc. But nothing seems to work.

If someone has any idea what's going on, please help!

The general troubleshooting checklist is:
1. remove any addons or mods
2. uninstall, delete all residual files, then reinstall the game
3. uninstall the game and reinstall using galaxy.

You could also try switching from vulcan to directx, or possibly clear your shader cache.

Unfortunately (or for me, fortunately I guess) I haven't encountered this directly, so all I can really offer is the same stupid generic advice; the software equivalent of "did you turn it off and on again" :(

Thank you for the response!

I tried reinstalling the game and GOG but sadly it still crashes.

Thank you nonetheless tho!

It could be that my laptop is getting too old sadly :(

That was going to be my next question: system specs. You might try checking for memory errors (either GPU memory, or system memory).

I had an issue a number of years ago where my system would run fine for days, but if I played Torchlight 3, it would suddenly crash (I think it would just hard reboot, but don't remember exactly what it was doing). After extensive troubleshooting, I narrowed the problem down to my GPU - apparently there was some hardware problem (my guess is a VRAM error or failed chip, but could just as well be a cracked solder joint somewhere) that only manifested when I was using significant GPU resources. I loaded up one of those system benchmarking tools and tried it, and got the same issue, which allowed me to rule out the game as the culprit.

Unfortunately, the only fix if it *is* a hardware error is to replace the hardware. That's never fun, Or cheap.
Do you have current graphics drivers ?

So far all problems I ever had with games have been fixed when I updated the drivers.

ahh yeah maybe that could be it.

I already tried to update my driver and i also cleaned my laptop fans but that didn't help either sadly. I'll try looking into the system specs.
if you start a new fresh game without cross saves does it still crash?
