Ah, my good fellows!

What a ride that was. Got myself and my fantasy buddies a happy ending (or at least the happiest I could give them). My current favourite game and IMO the best game ever. Larian said they are moving on to other projects, so I won't expect a sequel from them. Larian did a phenomenal job and they deserve a break. But I'm hoping another worthy dev will take the mantle and give us BG4 (glances at Owlcat.)

Edit: clarity.

I would not be surprised if BG3 ends up being the best game Larian will ever have produced.

That's a pretty depressing statement. You don't think they can top themselves?

I think they learned a lot of lessons through this process, and may very well put out more impressive games.

Honestly, just about everything they've made has been pretty good. The D:OS games are loads of fun. The Divinity series was entertaining as well. Not earthshattering, but good enough that I played them through to the end, which doesn't happen much for me.

I think they have a good future ahead of them.

I dont get how thats depressing ?

Its the best game I know.

All I'm saying they may never manage to make a game THIS good again.

Not that they'll make bad games from now on or anything like that.

It's depressing because if you're right, you're staying they'll never make anything better. It'd be a shame to peak so early in the company's game-making lifetime.

I agree that this pushes the standards for what RPGs should be, and is certainly one of the best so far, but I think they can do even better in the next one.

Glad you had an amazing journey! :D

Larian has definitely moved on from BG3, but I wouldn't completely rule out it being the end of BG3's story. I'm sure that WotC/Hasbro's shareholders are chomping at the bit for more of the success and money it brought in, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were quietly shopping the IP around to other developers. I could see a reputable company with good talent/experience in RPGs picking up the reins for an expansion (Owlcat and Obsidian both come to mind. Obsidian in particular has a track record of taking on expacs/sequels for other IP, such as Fallout's New Vegas, KotOR 2 and NWN2), or even BG4. (I've heard rumours that WotC is looking to build their own in-house studio for CRPGs, however, so it's possible they may decide to keep BG4 for themselves.)
