My save seems to be gone. I wasn't far in but still.

no it does not wipe your saves... a hotfix is always run over the top of the current build

patches do need a game restart but they are always marked as patches not hotfixs and this is not the case this time

Patch 4 (not this hotfix) broke saves before said patch. You'll have to start fresh.
