happycakes: The confusion comes from the lack of comms from devs partly because of the way GOG works you don't get a newsfeed for the games you own. The other thing is they posted instructions for steam. We're just assuming it works the same on GOG, which is a safe assumption, but it would be nice to have some certainty.

StingingVelvet: The same news stuff is on their website, it's just copied over to Steam. As you say, GOG does not have a similar function, which is why it's not done here. The website prominently displays GOG's logo on the front page, and all news applies to it.
Yep, I ended up going to their website and seeing it is in fact coming out for GOG/Steam/Geforce now, so that's a definitive answer. But they haven't specifically called out GOG to go through the same uninstallation process which leaves a question mark

steam has cloud saves and Gog doesn't

when you remove a cloud synced folder the cloud will just auto put it back and that fucks everything up... just like it did a few patches back when Larian decided to move save games from documents folder to AppData and forgot to tell anyone before hand
I went ahead and did the uninstall and manually deleted of the saves folder but I didn't delete from in game. I'm going to assume that's fine as I think the instructions are probably overkill in 99% of cases.

Also tried restarting a download of bg3 just out of curiosity on speeds, managed to cap out at 80MB/s which most games seem to be limited to 30MB/s on gog, so that's a good sign, still not as fast as steam though!
I believe it's up now and ready for installation. The total download is 105.52 GB.
