First playthrough of BG3.

Is there any in-game issue with going to the mountain pass to Visit the Githyanki Creche, and Elminster, and then return back to the Act1 map so I can access and then transverse the Underdark?

Also, if I plan to visit the Towers via. The Underdark, is it best to skip the Githyanki Creche?

Thanks.
You can visit the creche before the underdark. I did this myself. I picked the temple clean and got the sacred weapon stored in that place. It's actually a good idea to get the weapon before heading to the towers, as the Shadowlands is filled with undead.
Yes you can do that., I asked myself the same. I guess the warning before the travel is just meant to inform you about harder environmeant, cause the game is becoming more dangerous then.
agree the weapon is a great find BEFORE going to the shadowland however the question was about the underdark

yes you can but i'd do the underdark first

p.s, doing the creche first makes more sense as a gith for clear roll playing reasons

The warning is also in place because of the druid grove/goblin camp/refugee quest. Afaik, that quest will resolve when you travel to the mountain pass prematurely. But I cannot confirm.
Try it and see for yourself. I found out on my own that you can go either way and then come back from the next chapter.
Yes if you havent solved Goblin Camp and already peek the next level the game assumes you moved on and spent weeks traveling.

Thats what the warning is mostly about, really.

Like just about everyone here, I fully explored both.

I think the warning you get is that once you go through that door, some quests may become unfinishable / automatically complete, possibly in a way you don't like, so finish what you can before you head to the mountain pass.
Yeah that makes sense. I also stumbled across this relaxed undead dude in my camp after I did the goblin camp, although I did not found him in the crypt before. He just appeared like "hey whats up?" And when I went to his sarkophagus afterwards, it was empty and the narrator told "thst must be the grave of this undead guy in your camp. Weird, but seems they programmed some of those triggers if you advance too early.

Ohhh, that's handy to know! I had wondered what would happen if the player simply ignored the crypt and pushed ahead in the story without ever meeting Withers.

I don't think withers is terribly critical story-wise, but seeing as how he serves as a way to resurrect your characters, hire mercenaries, and reclass yourself, It seems logical that they'd program in a failsafe.

I hardly used him during the game, but there was one point where one of my party got blasted off a cliff into oblivion and withers was the only way I could find to resurrect them... so he's good to have around.
I dont like that guy, dead is dead, you already have a bunch of ressurrection scrolls.
Larian has this cosmic thing in all their games, i dont like it, DOS had this, home at the stars or something like that, i like my hero to be a ordinary joe, not some destiny driven, helped by the gods, chosen one.
I know its a quality of life thing, but even the reespec is wrong in my book, just go with your mistakes and if you butcher the build you fix in the next run.

It's a roleplaying game, so play it that way if that's the way you like it.

As we've seen frequently on these boards... some people aren't content with playing their own game. They feel that everyone else should be forced to play the game the way they prefer to play it. Frankly, I don't get it.

Fortunately, companies have learned that making the game playable in a wide variety of ways makes it more fun for a wide variety of people, and thus more profitable. We'll never get rid of the idealogue zealots, but we can safely ignore them since game devs aren't caving to their narrow world views.

They may be the noisiest on the forums, but they're far from the loudest when it comes to purchasing power.
withers is indispensable. Create 4 alts to hook up (link hint hint) to your main party and they'll provide tons of boosts. Plus another wizard to boost speed, cast shields and whatnot that last until long rest lol
