Why do you keep changing the main files or provide no archive of previously released files?!

So I download the entire 29 BG3 offline files for the Patch 1 update because you offered no updates to the day one release files or there were at some point, but only for a limited time and you removed them when another update came out. I finished my first play thru with the day one release, so I decided to uninstall and install the new Patch 1 (downloaded eventually after release). It turns out, I forgot 1 file (file 26).. so okay no big deal. I'll just re-download that one file and continue the install.

Well I can't.. because you updated another one and replaced it. My installer won't accept that new file. Now I have to waste a crap ton of time and bandwidth redownloading ALL the files again. For the love of... PLEASE archive some of these files or at the very least leave the original installer and provide patches to update to the latest versions!

I've submitted a ticket requesting the file for the patch to update the old one, but it's sitting in limbo. I got a ticket number and haven't heard from them in a week and a half. If I go try to check my ticket it says "Your ticket has been submitted. Our friendly support team will respond to you as soon as they are able", in which I guess, if it isn't directly related to money, will be never.

Very good question.

And why is there no text file (ASCII) listing the patch states (version name)
with their relative base release (version name again)
and a listing the files and explaining which are required for
* a complete new install
* and a patch upgrade relative to a previous patch state or the complete new install

Listing the MD5 sums of each available file would be helpfull too.

@ GOG Please provide a install and download document.

Greetings,

Thatorein

be grateful GOG provides anything for offline anything at all. Soon that will cease entirely and Galaxy would be the only option to download games/updates. Seriously, offline installers/updates been neglected for years and updated very sporadically for all games across the entire store. It's a miracle they still do it because they are obviously NOT very interested in continuing to do so.

Check this website for previous builds of any games on GOG.com. No guarantee you'll find what you're looking for however. 50/50 chances.

Galaxy was specifically developed to replace the manual files as the primary GOG installation and updating software. That's been the case for years. With Galaxy, game developers can upload their patches directly to the GoG galaxy exes, exactly like they do on Steam. (Patch #2 came out on Steam today, and I just got through downloading and installing Patch 2 through Galaxy.) The GOG manual files are files that GOG itself has to prepare in exe-installable versions from the patches the developers supply--that is an appreciable amount of work for Gog. I only use the manual files after a game's final patch has been issued, for my installable archived copy.

If you are still depending on the manual files (which Steam doesn't offer at all) from Gog for installing and updating your GOG games, you are clearly doing it wrong. Galaxy will solve your problems.

Without offline files, how will GOG successfully differentiate itself and compere with Steam?

The way they are going I don't think they care anymore. BG3 is the last game I bought from GOG. If I have to use a client to download/play my games I will use Steam, which is far superior.

I finally got a response from support from my original ticket, where they didn't have an update for 4.1.1.3622274 (Original launch installer) to newer versions and I'll be damned... they added the missing upgrade patch for the original installer! A wee bit too late for me, but support tickets here actually work. Thanks support!
