Hello everyone,
If you are like me you bought BG3 on GOG and you might want to send over your saves to PS5, but you are facing some difficulties.
Sometimes the saves won't transfer even when you force a sync with Larian's Cloud.
Here's what I did:
Background: I have both GOG's BG3 and PS5 up to the latest version and with a stable connection to the Internet. I enabled Cross Save on both ends (console and PC) and the saves were not transferring (didn't have any Mods enabled).
I did a clean uninstall of the BG3 Early Access files from Z:\ (my install SSD) and I thought I was done.
Issue: No matter how hard I tried forcing the sync with the cloud, only some or none of the saves would transfer from my PS5 to the PC and just one from my PC to the PS5 out of several saves (to force the cross save synch with Larian's cloud service you head into options from the main menu and toggle off Cross Save, and then opening Options again you toggle on Cross Save)
Solution: Turns out that GOG saves the savedata in another location other than the install folder. In my case was C:\User\Username\Documents\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\Player Profiles\Public\Savegames\Story\(Save name(s))
I found out that there were TWO folders named Larian Studios and I delved into it one was the EA one with the old savefiles on hand. Deleted that one (it's on the instructions for the clean uninstall from Larian but I probably missed it) and left only 1 Larian Folder up. Went into the Baldur's Gate 3 Launcher, opened up a save and *Very important* created a new save with the cross save enabled.
The game will sync and then I headed into my console, open up the app (I purchased it digitally) and forced the cross save synch (see above) and lo and behold, my last 5 saves (including the new one I created) for EACH character/campaign are now available in my PS5.
Hopefully this helps you out and makes it less of a headache as it happened to me :)
