It has something to do with the movies barring the intro to a new game. I have a similar problem going on.

Here is what has been going on with me: I can get as far as I want into the game and it runs just fine, but it chases whenever I try to save. It would let me do so with no issues at the very beginning, which made me curious. After experimenting a bit, I discovered that it was my activation of the hint FMVs that caused this. If I walked around the eye and saved at the dead rat, it would do so. Doing so after walking on the eye resulted in a crash. Furthermore, when I viewed the trailer in the start menu, this led to a crash whenever I tried to load the save. I hope this can be fixed in the future, as I really want to get into this.

Also, The launcher box is mentioning not seeing a "gencfg.bat" or something like that. Maybe that's the problem?

Quick edit: I am running on a Windows 8 64-bit tower. I'm going to install this on my Windows 7 laptop and see if this yields the solution.

Result: The game works perfectly on my 7 machine. Neither of the problems happen. At least I can enjoy it!

Last note specifically for Mr.Caine: My game loads on the same screen I saved on. It doesn't start me way back at the beginning. Sorry bud, but it appears you still have a saving situation on your hands. <:(

Having a similar problem. I can save on the first few screens but I can't save any farther than the glue traps without it crashing.

Using Windows 8.1 64-bit

WeirdoGeek seems right. I can save fine anytime before the first FMV, but afterwards it will always crash. Anyone know why this might happen?

I would recommend sending us a Support ticket so that we can take a good look at this issue :) Thanks!
I am having the exact same problem here. Running it on Windows 8.1 64 bits, and I also see a message mentioning that "gencfg.bat" was not found.

Hi guys, I've contacted supported and, after following their directions, it seems the problem was solved. Most of the steps are standard troubleshooting proceedures, but I cannot tell you which one solved the problem. I believe reinstalling it to a shorter directory may be the answer. Here is the email I got:

"Hello

The error message you provided a screenshot of is nothing to be concerned of, it will appear every time.

1) Please make sure that you use "Run as Administrator" to install and to start the game (right-click on the shortcut or setup file and select "Run as Administrator").

2) Please reinstall the game (to a simpler path like: C:\BadMojo if possible) and add it to your anti-virus/firewall software's exception/trusted list.

3) Install the June 2010 DirectX runtime package, then use the DirectX web installer.

You will have to extract the files into some folder, then open that folder and launch the DXSETUP.exe file in order to proceed with the installation.

Afterwards, download the latest DirectX web installer and use it as well

4) Your DxDiag report shows that you're using an integrated Intel video device. Please go to Catalyst Control Center and there to Power Tab > Switchable graphics. You should be able to select High Performance for the game, that should make it use the Radeon card.

If the issue persists please try to recreate the crash, afterwards open the Event Viewer (WinKey+X) and from Windows Logs > Applications provide the additional informations about the crash."
I'm sorry to say that this did not really solve the problem. The game still crashes randomly.

Please send another ticket with what you have already done to try and solve the problem so that we can investigate this issue some more :)

Also running Win 8 x64. Was able to save 4 times and save over previous save-files, but when I load a savegame, the game crashes.

I tried the following things, from earlier in this thread.

The anti-virus I didn't do. I'm running McAfee, but that does not interfere with any GOG games, plus I wouldn't know how to open up the "exception/trusted list".

I ran "Solve compatibility problems", and set the compatibility to Win 7, since that seamed to work for other persons - running the game on a Win 7 pc, that is - but that didn't fix it.

I'm not willing to try these things,

"3) Install the June 2010 DirectX runtime package, then use the DirectX web installer.

since I don't have a Radeon car, but an Nvidia one.

Can someone help out, or is my only option to send in a Support ticket?

EDIT: I also tried this from the support forum

http://www.gog.com/support/bad_mojo_redux/file_accessrelated_issues_problems_when_savingloading_games_loading_certain_mapslevels_etc

Make sure that your Windows user account has Administrator privileges, and thar User Account Control (UAC) is disabled in your operating system. To do this, go to Start -> Control Panel -> User Accounts and Family Safety -> User Accounts -> Change User Account Control settings. Move the slider to the lowest position ("Never notify") and click OK.

Afterwards, make sure to always launch the game with “Run as Administrator”.

If this doesn't help, try reinstalling the game by using "Run as Administrator" on the installer itself.
Did not help. Cannot load.

Where do you have the game installed?

Please make sure that you have the game installed in drive C:\ and don't use spaces in the name so make sure to install the game like so:

C:\BadMojo or C:\badmojo

If that doesn't help please write us a Support ticket via this link:

http://www.gog.com/support/contact/technical_issues_with_games/bad_mojo_redux and make sure to select "saving/loading issues" from the drop down menu :)

Darn, there's a space between "Bad" and "Mojo" in my directory. Sigh, ok, I'll give it another go tomorrow ... Thanks for the quick response, though :-)

You're welcome :) Just remember that older games have trouble with spaces or special characters (-. , > < " " ) in the directory's name :)

Do post an update if my suggestion helped :)

I deleted the space between "bad" and "mojo". At first it helped, untill I reached the vacuum cleaner on the table. From that point I couldn't save anymore.:-(( I have an older pc with vista. Installed the game there, no saving nor loading problems, but I would also like it to work on my gaming rig, of course.
