Hey all,

So my Logitech Wingman joy stick is not working. When I go to the options menu the the little gauge at the bottom which measures joystick movement is moving. And if I attempt to rebind any of the keys it jumps around like a two year old on Red Bull. In game it fails to respond at all. I'm using Windows 7 if that makes a difference. Any help?

I have the same problem with my X45 on Windows 7 (x64).
Joystick works fine in options menu and other games, but not in this.

Compability mode didn't help.

Edit: OK, so I rtfm'd and my problem is solved.
Walrus1: Do you have a small computer icon in the bottom left corner? That means the plane is computer controlled. Press m to activate manual control.

Yeah, only shows that for simulators we should actually open the manual before starting the game ;). I facepalmed as well.
I can't turn very well on the ground. The tailwheel is released, but it doesn't turn. Rudder works just fine...any ideas? I have a Logitech Extreme3DPRO that otherwise seems to be working fine.

You need to use steering breaks. I believe default is the "B" and "N" keys
I am having trouble with my key bindings also. I cannot steer on the takeoff to the runway. I have the B and N keys bound but the plane will not turn. My old sidewinder joy stick works the rudders and brakes but will not turn either. I've tried different key bindings and nothing works. Any sugg.s
Hi all.

I have the Logitech Attack 3 and it works perfectely in windows. But in Mighty 8th it seems that the y and x axis are mixing up. When i turn left it automatically goes down too. And when I turn right it goes up. I cant get it to go only up/down/left/right. In fact left right does not work at all... only when trying to turn.
Pretty impossible to locate a target in the bombsights or shoot down a fighter.

ANY ideas would be very much appreciatet.
Everyone who is having issues with the joystick along the lines of: steering left or right on the joystick causes the throttle to go up or down, or moving the throttle control on the joystick causes the rudder to turn, or any number of other strange issues like that; if you read the readme for the game you'll find that it says that if you connect the joystick after starting the game up it messes up the control setup somehow (apparently they never managed to figure out why) and that you only have two options to correct the issue: uninstall and reinstall, or go into the game files (GOG.com/B17/Options) and delete all of the .opt files(Doing this resets the controls so make sure to redo all custom bindings before playing). Once you do that just make sure to plug the joystick into your computer before you start the game every time after that and you're good to go.

On a side note I still cant get the plane to turn while taxiing on the runway, if anyone can figure out that one I would very much appreciate it. Thank you.
I followed this and the B and N buttons for the brake did not work with the 1st Practice Taxi on Runway mission. Couldn't get the joystick to respond with this GOG version.

My solution:
exit the game
rename the b17.opt file in the C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\B17\Options if you have Win7.
Go into the Input options
Manually rebind the N and B keys for the brakes
save and exit the game
re-enter game and choose this taxi mission
Press M to go to manual and use your keyboard to steer the plane with a very slow throttle.

NOTE: Don't get hung up about not being able to do this mission. I spent 3 hrs of work trying to get 5 minutes of fun, and even tho i got it working, it wasn't worth the effort.

This game doesn't have a guided boot camp that I can see....it leaves you off as a greenhorn pilot to navigate the game yourself....

My suggestion...use the manual to go through the mission first, or go to the other missions where the COMPUTER does the mission and get the gist of what you have to do, esp with the bomb runs and the use of the bombsight. It is more educational than a Call of duty experience, as is all simulators.

have fun,

i HAVE A SMALL TOSHIBA NOTEBOOK COMPUTER USING WINDOWS 7 STARTER (I KNOW IT SUCKS BUT THAT'S WHAT I HAVE). THE GAME RECOGNIZES SOME OF THE KEYBOARD KEYS BUT NOT ALL. CAN'T SHOOT GUNS, CAN'T START OR STOP ENGINES, ETC. I DON'T THINK THIS OLD GAME RECOGNIZES THE KEYBOARD LAYOUT (E.G.. THERE IS NO SEPARATE NUMBER AND ARROW KEY LAYOUT TO THE RIGHT OF THE MAIN LETTER KEYBOARD). ANY WAY TO FIX THIS OR DID I WASTE MY MONEY BY BUYING THIS GAME?

Did you try going into the options and resetting some of the command keys?

I had my joystick (Top Gun Fox 2) installed before I started the game and the controls are still messed up! Rudder seems to control the speed and my power slider seems to control the rudder.

Honestly I don't know what to tell you, the game may just be old enough that certain joysticks just won't work with the game. I mean heck my current joystick doesn't work with Ace Combat Assault Horizon and that came out last year.

I was having the same issue with steering on the runway. Joystick was mapped correctly but it wouldn't work, nor would the B and N key. After finding this thread, and reading the first two posts, I re-read the readme.txt file. It has a note about needing to release the parking brake in Training Mission #!. That fixed the issue for me. After releasing the parking brake I can steer with the joystick.
