I am new to the Axis and Allies 1942 game. I've managed to load it onto my MacBook and have it working in offline mode. I now have a friend that has the game as well and we want to play online, however, I can't seem to get the game to go into online mode. When I select Go Online, it sometimes does nothing and other times it reloads the game in Offline Mode. I'm stuck. Any suggestions?

FYI I am new to online gaming so I'm not even sure how the game would interact with both me and my fried. Is there a service I need to be signed on to? Please help!!!

Edit: Figured out thanks to someone else that I had to manually go to Settings and switch to online mode. Why would that ever be a necessity? The Steam version is just online to begin with. I spent a few hours troubleshooting this before figuring this out. I am perplexed as to why this game would come in an offline-only condition and require a new player to figure out an obscure setting counter-intuitively set to offline...
