Hello,

Trying to install the game through GOGv2 but it's hanging on "Installing 97%". Tried several times now. Anyone had the same issue and know how to solve it?

EDIT: After some research I see that the installer get an error:
Runtime error (at 65:1143):

Internal error: Failed to expand shell folder constant "userdocs".

I'll create a "bugreport" to GOG.

Same Problem sinc months. Do you got any solution ?
Idem i have the same msg and thats 24 houres xhen i asend a msg @ support GOG and no response

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I managed to find the solution, your installed must search by default the location of the directory "my documents" outside this one at home is on a network nas, I temporarily changed the location to the default time installation and re changed afterwards according to my configuration and the game is finally installed and playable.

I hope my notes will help you solve this problem in the future.

Hope this helps for anyone who stumbles across this thread via Google. It's to do with where GOG Galaxy is looking for your Documents folder. Here's what helped me resolve it (Solution 3): https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-windows_programs/internal-error-failed-to-expand-shell-folder/cb2d4bf6-49c8-40ce-b402-3f26448d37f2
Means:

As long as the file paths to the WINDOWS personal folder "documents" has been changed by the user.... the GOG Installer won't find that folder and the Game and/ or any of its major updates won't install. Since the stupid installer is not able to look up the correct path in the registry!

As long as GOG is not fixing that installer they use the only solution is:

Set the path to the "document" folder back to default.... let the installer install what ever its doin' and set the path back to your liking!

Maybe the setting and re-setting of the document folder path can be faster done with two reg files?
One with the default path.... and a nother with your favourite path...
(I have not tested it, yet!!!)

Open the reg editor
(Click on Start and in the start search box type "regedit" and press enter)

Go to the location
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

1) Once “User Shell Folders” is highlighted, right click that key and select EXPORT and save that as a Reg File to your computer, you will need it later!
For instance, name it: MY_Personal.reg

2) After you have exported that key, select “User Shell Folder” and on the right pane locate "Personal" and see what the path is set to. Change it back to the default value which has once been %USERPROFILE%Documents (Double click Personal to change the Value)

3) Now activate again the "User Shell Folders" in the left pane and right klick it..... and again export it.
for instant, name it Stupid_GOG_installer.reg

Close the Reg Editor.... restart your machine....

Now run GOG, the installer should now run the installation of the new game or the game update.
after the installation, copy the folder the installer created in the documents folder.... to YOUR documents folder under the changed path (or does Windows copy all content of the default folder while moving that folder to the changed destination ? I'm not sure!)

Than klick the MY_Personal.reg file..... the path value in the registry file will be re-set (re-changed) to YOUR former favourite path of the documents folder.
Restart your machine.... and that should be it!

Good Luck!
