I really would like to have some way to know what my team is wearing and especially what weapon they will use. I use my companions as mules to haul a lot of stuff, some of it guns, and they seem to grab whatever gun they want even if it is not the best. It would be good to be able to see on the inventory what they are using by maybe color or shading or something.I know that what they use is listed at the bottom of the inventory but it is a dual column and they don't seem to obey consistantly.

Personally, I too would prefer there to be some way to easily tell - just from the inventory screen for each character - exactly what they're currently equipped with. Also would be great if it would indicate which "alternate" weapon they'll use (e.g. what melee weapon they'll equip if switching to close combat), since this isn't always clear (one would think it would always be the highest damaging weapon, but sometimes they prefer the one with the least AP - so is it DPS? I don't know).

Hopefully they'll add something like this in a future patch. In the meantime, there are ways to figure this out (albeit in a clunky sort of way).

The armor and weapon they will use will be equipped. Switching between hand-to-hand/melee and ranged mode should show them switching weapons (possibly going unarmed if better than melee, or if no appropriate weapon found).

If you can't easily tell what weapons/armor they're using by the graphics, you can just give them one piece of armor/weapon at a time and observe if their loadout changes.

You could always unload all weapons before giving them the weapons, then give them all the weapons (unloaded) and ammo at once. They should then automatically equip the best weapon and load it. Then just check their inventory - the gun they're using will be the only one loaded.

Thanks, it never occured to me to unload the guns. I just assumed that they were empty. I got irritated when I discovered Fidel using a rusty old smg with a 10% chance to jam instead of his new Mak 14 or 18 pistol. Furthermore I don't believe the chance of jamming is only 10%. Seems more like 50% to me. Actually no one in their right mind would use an old rusty weapon anyway, it would blow up in your face!!

I think the % chance to jam is modified by your luck stat. I have no idea on the maths used for this though.

It's a shame that you can craft a new weapon, yet it's not possible to actually maintain or repair an already-existing weapon. Seems like the latter would be easier than creating a new weapon from scratch - and I really don't see how it would be possible to create a crazy-powerful sniper rifle from bits of junk with not even any power tools available!

I think you are right. Luck could be the reason for so many jams in guns. I don't remember what luck value Fidel and Hex have but mine is down to 1 and I never have jams because I only use new weapons Those stat points are too valuable to waste on luck. The times I have tried to use rusty guns were a disaster, It would have been more effective to throw the gun than fire it because of my low luck I guess.

In the new update 1.08 you will be able to equip your buddies manually.
