So, when solving problems from the dialogues with inanimate objects (such as the dead robot in the bunker, or a stalagmite in the cave), sometimes the solution requires a certain level of a certain skill. Yet, I do not see any obvious way of involving your companion who perhaps has a better level in a particular skill in helping out.

Anything I'm missing?

AFAIK it is possible to get companions to help in some situations - although I can't recall if this ever happens via dialogue at all (which is a serious omission).

I know it's possible to get companions to lockpick stuff for you - when click-holding on an object, if it's locked you should have the option to pick the lock, and also to get a companion to help (I think it's "ask for help" when you mouse over it). Unfortunately companions don't seem to be able to use any aids to help them (e.g. crowbar, lockpicks) - which is another omission. On top of that, there are some lock-picking locations that require the picker to have high stealth so you don't get busted - so to be really useful, you'd have to raise a companion's stealth as well as lockpicking - and even then, there are a couple of lockpicking situations which occur via dialogue only, which (again) we cannot get companions to help with for some strange reason.

I would have thought the "technology" skill would work similarly, but I haven't really tried (and again, there are definitely areas that are via dialogue, which don't work for your companions).

TL;DR

You can get companions to pick locks for you - but you'll have to raise stealth to get the most out of it, and even then they can't pick everything for you.

Hopefully devs add in this option in a future patch - even the Shadowrun Returns series had this kind of stuff, and that was much more combat-oriented.

Party management is in a need of a lot of improvement. I hope the patch comes sooner, rather than later.
