Hi guys,

I got around the game world a bit by now and am still confused by tinkering, especially regarding recipes.

Will constantly increasing my tinkering skill give me access to more recipes? Or am I supposed to experiment with all the random stuff I find until I get something by accident? Is buying/finding recipes the only way?

I know there are lists of crafting recipes I can google but I want to do this without looking them up. Want to do this game mostly blind.

The simple stuff (e.g. sharpened knife, cigarette, joint) you'll have to find by "experimenting" for the most part.

Most of the more complex stuff has a recipe for it written down somewhere - those that have recipes tend to have at least one guaranteed location it can be found or bought, and any of these have a chance of appearing at any caravan trader.

They've definitely added more recipe books/sheets/toilet paper to the game via patches since release, to the point that there's only one "complex" (i.e. uses more than 2 components) thing that you still need to use "experiment" to unlock.
