Skill points are limited and higher level skills can get extremely expensive. Projectile skill covers both 20mm and 60mm, thus allowing some nice balance with early game weapons and damage, and late game weapons and damage against the larger ships. On the other hand, Lasers seem to be mild to fair in the early game, but seemingly much less useful toward mid and end game while Beams are quite the opposite, being good in the late game.
Projectile skill covers both 20mm and 60mm. Yet, Lasers and Beams need different skills. Would you consider merging them as a way to reduce skill bloat? It will also reduce the frustration of having far too few skill points to try and level up the wide range of skills. There are tons and tons of skills already and I can only level up about 4 or 5 skills beyond level 2 or 3. (Unless I'm doing something completely wrong....)
