Just bought the game yesterday and already I have 5 hours in it, sigh! Sigh for the enormous time taken and sigh that it's so awesome!

Did the first mission and I thought I was done but realized I had just picked up ore, not deposited it. Got that straight now.

Inadvertently picked up a second mission in some Labor station. Tried to back out but then I learned saves happen when you un-dock from anything, not the earlier save I manually did before I docked at the Labor station and accepted the mission. Okaaay. Cancelled the mission and got socked for over 14000 cr, tried to re-load save game and I did that again. Okaaay. Re-loaded save AGAIN and I tried to do the mission. Traveled several systems over, found the medium cargo case and tried to pick up the 10 shield absorbers (I think they were, I cannot expand the mission in the mission log that only shows in my "home" station (Biomate), no other station and the column widths are fixed so we cannot see more info on the mission). Since I had the starting ship (310 cargo space) and a level 1 laser (starting) in my cargo bay (I was using a active scanner, a found starter module), I did not have room for all 10 shield absorbers (SAs). Didn't want to leave the laser behind so I grabbed 9 SAs and went to the other system and dropped them off into the storage since no pop-up box came up when I docked at the final station. I raced back to the cargo unit with the 1 more SA and...no cargo unit. Went back to the final station and could not get the station to accept the SAs for the mssion so eventually after many tries I just sold them. Since I wanted to do other missions I had to cancel the mission. Imagine my shock when I went back to the mission log some time later (attached) it showed I aborted 3 times! Technically it should have listed only once since the first two were not saved. Ironically it appeared I only had one 14000 cr deduction from my account balance or so I noticed.

Some questions, requests, observations:
- Very easy to pick up a mission at a Labor station (where you are standing in front of a person, not normal stations showing a mission list) without seeing the mission first. Maybe another final prompt before acceptance?
- Saves happen after exiting a station but the gamer is not informed anywhere. I was using the manual save all the time but read nothing about the exit station saves. Might be nice to know in the beginning.
- How did two non-saved aborts of a mission get saved in the game?
- Never mind, I see how this is indicated in the mission info screen. Not clear how to deal with a mission cargo load larger than the cargo hold. Have seen several posts on this but unclear how the mission succeeds except for the knowledge of the mission cargo size ahead of time so you don't do that mission if you don't have cargo room for an entire mission load (if so that should be mentioned somewhere). Speaking of mission cargo size (next one).
- In the mission description screen I thought "Cargo Bonus" and "Space Bonus" was the cargo size. I just noticed the "Space Required" in meters cubed is probably the cargo size. So maybe cargo size of a mission is there but I am curious about those two "Bonuses" mean?
- Is it useful to expand the mission log columns or see the old mission info screens? Just curious...
- I was curious if I could see 2560x1440p70 upon initial install & start. Took a half a dozen restarts and tons of clicking on screen size and VSync before I got the display back. Strange behavior but my fault as I knew my monitors are 2560x1440p60.
- No indication of what screen to play the game on in the settings. I used Radeon's Windows key+Shift+right arrow and the game moved obediently to the right screen, the screen I wanted to play on. I am gratified something remembers this and now Astrox always comes up on that screen (I've had some games not do that or not move at all or I had to play in windowed mode, yech!).

Most of my issues besides these are learning the game (so are some issues above) so no other real problems. I detest Steam (DRM-tracking mo-fo's) but love Astrox is on GOG. Personally I think the developer should charge more for the game but I did not see a donate link. As an old Freelancer server admin, it's nice to be back in space. :)

I like the game, find it hard to restart myself sometimes though when not playing for a while.
