First off, I'd like to note that I initially had a few more things to comment on but you've already worked through them all. Impressive!

Anyway, here's a few things I'm used to seeing in other games--notably Eve--that would be neat to show up in Astrox Imperium.

Mouse button mapping: The current mapping--left click to select objects in space, right click to rotate camera--works but it's backward from a lot of games. Compounding it for me is that I use Blender a lot, which has its own convoluted input system that exists separate from both games and other CAD applications. I'd like to have more control over mouse button mapping so that I wind up with something that's more intuitive.

Double-click to navigate: Oldschool Eve players would rely heavily on double clicking in space as a form of manual navigation. It's an easy way to fly around obstacles and perform more advanced tactical maneuvers without going all-in on manual keyboard/stick input. So I'd like to be able to double click in empty space and fly toward that position on the skybox.

"Passive tactical mode": Tactical mode is great for maximum information but it overpowers the visuals, conversely normal/visual mode looks cool but won't really tell you if you're about to get jumped by like 600 raiders. A nice compromise would be to have an intermediate mode that has smaller, less conspicuous overlay icons only for the really important stuff like stations, gates and hostile ships.
mouse button mapping, no problem, i will add that.

double clicking to travel to a spot sounds cool. have been considering doing an RTS style command movement as well. you would press a hotkey, then you would see a little goto disc pop up on the grid, and you could move it around on the flat plane, and adjust it vertically with a separate hot key. very RTS like. the reason i have been chewing on this is because it feels like the mercs need more control-ability. i keep thinking the RTS movement for the mercs would be the droids i'm looking for.

anyway, i think maybe the answer to the passive tactical, is a way to toggle what you want to see on the default overlay. i'll chew on this idea a bit.
