Hi there!

I am usually a completist when it comes to games. I do not want to miss a lot of stuff. So in AC I climb every view point and save every citizen and so on. But searching for a gazillion flags? That is too stupid. Even for me...
So, can anybody tell me what I will miss? Because no matter what there is no way I will do this...

As far as I know from different internet sources (I never collected all flags myself), collecting all the flags only gives you some achievements in the console versions (and maybe the steam PC version) of the game. Since the GOG version doesn't have any achievements at all, you won't miss anything. There's certainly nothing adding to the story unlocked by collecting all the flags (no bonus ending or extra cut-scene or stuff like this).

As DoctorGOGgles said, you won't be missing anything important, just some health (I think).
On the other hand, you could use this to help you find the flags, at least for as long as the site is still operational.

Because it is referred to as "Additional Memories" in the interface I thought I might miss some bonus levels oder bit more background story. I am glad that this is not the case.

Even with the map it seems like a huge waste of time to get 100 flags in the kingdom or anywhere else...

Yeah, apparently this "additional memories" thing is a leftover from the console versions where collecting flags would unlock artworks. For some fucked up reason these aren't present in the PC version anymore so with the lack of unlockable artworks and achievements the flags in the PC version are utterly useless. You can abuse them as disposable checkpoints since the game is saved after collecting a flag but that's it. Way to go, Ubisoft!

Just started playing the game, and I thought to use the flags for save points like Fallout said. However, the flags don't seem to be there. Were the flags completely taken out of the game?

They're in the game I downloaded. :-/ Maybe they don't spawn until after the early storyline scenes...?

Okay, I've just completed going through the town and talked to the master. I'm supposed to defend the village now. I'll see if they spawn later. Thanks for the quick reply.

Once you get the main story mission from Al Mualim, the flags will appear throughout the map.
