Im thinking of buying this game, but Im rather cautious because it does not say Windows 7 on the page, but it did for other games like Planescape Torment.

So can someone tell me if its actually compatible?
Nothing to worry about most likely..probably GOG just hasn't gotten around to it yet.

This is the only reported issue here:

http://www.gog.com/en/forum/arx_fatalis/arx_win7_wont_start

(Easy fix, if it even applies)

Games generally work fine on Win7. I don't think I've tried Arx on it personally though.

One issue to note for all systems though is the load issue:

Im win 7 pro 64 bit. Works great with the new patch. =)
I bought the cd version off of Ebay and I cannot get the game to play at all even with the patch mentioned above. I have one question. Is the source code download required to make the patch work properly?

When I install this patch the original game install becomes corrupted..... I keep getting a message when I click on the desktop icon saying that Arx Fatalis is not installed and I need to reinstall the game. Can someone please help me?

I had a couple issues to start with, mostly my video card not really being compatible and my mouse drivers having issues, but there was a fan patch to fix the former problem and I figured out the latter on my own (after posting a question like a fool, of course).

At this point I would say I'm getting like 80-90% of the performance I would expect from the game, and that's pretty good. I'm running Win7 Ultimate 64 with a GTX460, btw. Apparently the best setup to experience as many specific issues as possible. Sigh.

All right I give UP!!! Arx, Win7 64bit, Intel Quad Core, 6 GB Memory, Intel 160 GB SSD and a GeForce GTX 460. Both the r1.21 and the v1.19 patch are installed, I am running in Admin Mode, the Enable Rendering Fix is on, Bump Mapping is on AA is off and I am running in 1920 x1080.
The game plays flawlessly until I try to leave the Castle following the investigation of the Astrologer's death and the completion of the council meeting. When I leave the Castle I get a brief look at the street, a snake lady and the game crashes.
I have 2 games played to this point and they both crash at the same spot.

Ok, ignore my previous post.

I just tried something I should have done before I posted the first time. Turned down everything in the options/video selections got through the cut scene with the Snake Lady and turned everything back up, worked like a charm.
i have played it on windows 7 home premium 64 bit and it works fine

For any new people visiting this thread, I wanted to add that this patch has been incorporated into the installer in the GOG version. So if you buy it from GOG, you will already have this patch.

If you bought from GOG a while back, you may need to re-download it to get the patch.
The latest WHQL nvidia driver (270.61) seems to have fixed most of the issues with arx and win 7.

The fps does still crash if you return to the main menu*, but in normal play it's fine.

*you can remedy this by alt tabbing and back again
