I just got Arx Fatalis (I bought it for Xbox when it was new, though) and have been fighting with it to get it to run. I have an Nvidia GTX460, 4 gig of ram, running Win7 Ultimate. Patch 1.21 didn't run well when I changed any of the settings, and making the changes in my Nvidia Control Center that some users advised didn't do much either. The fanpatch that someone posted did, in fact, make the game run waaaay better, but my issue now is the ouse control.

Whenever I'm making broad, strong movements with the mouse the game is fine, but whenever I try to make smaller, more careful movements the game doesn't really respond. I can't really play the game without my mouse responding properly so I was wondering if anyone has any ideas. I haven't had this problem with any other game yet but this is a relatively new system so I haven't really tried a lot of older things.

I'm using a Logitech G9x laser mouse with the latest version of setpoint (so I can adjust the LEDs on it, lame, I know). Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Aaaaaaand nevermind, I apparently had "use native OS application for acceleration etc" or something on. Turning that off let the mouse move properly in the game. If anyone else experiences this problem all you need to do is shut that off.

Can you mark your own question as the solution, I wonder....;o)

Enjoy the game! +1 for posting your own solution for others, too....
I seem to have mouse issues with VSync forced. How do you turn that acceleration off in Windows 7? I have a Razer Lachesis mouse with newest drivers and firmware.

There are advanced settings in Arx's config.ini (none for VSync specifically though), but if you have this problem universally, you should just set it to be "forced off" at the graphics card level. Google gave me this page:
http://windows7themes.net/how-to-disable-vsync-in-windows-7.html
(instructions for both ATI and nVidia)

Also, just quoting the solution hapexindustries found for himself so it's at the bottom of the thread with the solution (hopefully) to Nirth_90's question:
