Since there are quite a few files that have been removed from the GOG version pertaining to the multiplayer maps, I went through and compiled a "patch" to restore them. This patch also includes the executable files from the retail CD to restore the multiplayer option in the main menu.

Warning: GOG tested the multiplayer functionality and disabled it due to bugs they perceived in the build provided. You may be lucky like I am and not have issues or it may freeze the game entirely.

So why would you want to enable multiplayer if it is buggy?
- AI deathmatch and capture the flag modes
- Perhaps multiplayer via TCP/IP (not tested)

Bring on the Multiplayer!
Okay! Army Men II Multiplayer - Patch V.1.1

Minor Update: If you have a disk check error, I created a small boot CD image containing only the launcher and executable. It can be mounted virtually on Windows 8/10.

Is there something similar that can be done for Toys in Space as well?

I imagine so. It wasn't hard to do if anyone else wants to put a patch together for it. I don't have a CD of Toys in Space to start with like I did for Army Men II.
So, does this patch make TCP/IP works properly after 1 day of post 'I bet you might have test it already'? What about the status of AI in deathmatch and capture the flag? This mode I like the most since this is the mode I spent a lot when I was a kid.

AI capture the flag and deathmatch should work. I've played a few rounds of deathmatch on Windows 10. The multiplayer mode seems to trigger a CD check but it is no issue with the boot CD virtually mounted.

I have not tested TCP/IP. I haven't received any feedback on that yet either.
Can u teach me how to install the patch? I apply the patch but crash abruptly then to desktop screen. Maybe I did a wrong installation way. Just write it down there so that I can test it myself to fix my crash problem. And I also mounted your ISO file.
I'll see about automating the process a little once I get some more feedback. If someone knows a good method for automatically mounting and unmounting isos, that would be fantastic.

But I digress. The files should be correctly organized in the patch to correspond to the place they should be copied. ArmyMen2.exe and the mplay files should be copied into the install directory. By default, its something like "C:\GOG Games\Army Men II" Replacing the Army Men executable is required with this patch so far unless you want to create a second shortcut. Copying the data and bitmaps folders into the same location should merge the files from the GOG install with the missing files from retail install.

If I didn't screw it up, copying the contents of AMII into the GOG copy's install folder and choosing to replace all files should have worked.

I will again offer up the disclaimer that GOG tested the multiplayer functionality and disabled it for a reason. I may just be extraordinarily lucky in getting it to run.

Windows 8 and Windows 10 have the ability to do this by default. If you have either OS, just click on the iso and it should open it like a folder. Once that happens, it's been mounted.

There are a few utilities to do this with XP, Vista and Windows 7. I haven't tried it, but Microsoft has a utility for it. With these programs, just open the iso in the program and it will mount the image.

I can't say on the map pack because I haven't tried it.

The hack/'fix' that I prepared is problematic in that it restores the CD check DRM. The download contains a folder named AMII and a disk image named am2. The disk image will open as a drive on Windows 10 if you have that. If you have an older copy of Windows like XP/Vista/7 then burning it to disk may be easier.

The contents of the AMII folder can be copied into the game's install folder. By default, it will be something like C:/Gog Games/Army Men II/ and will contain the Army Men II data and bitmaps folders. In the GOG install, you will want to rename the ArmyMen2 application file so that you can keep it to use later. The data and bitmaps folders contain additional map data missing from the GOG release. If you copy them into the install folder, Explorer should ask if you want to merge the files. Say yes and it should take care of everything else.

It's not a great fix... in fact, it is a terrible hack. It worked for me, but I can't say the same for anyone else.

It worked for me :D (Win7)
But I had to rename the file "ddraw.dll" located in the folder "C:\GOG Games\Army Men II", or else each time I was trying to launch multiplayer, I was having a never-ending switching resolutions screen (I don't know how to describe that XD).

Thanks for the MP patch and the mini iso :)
UGH OP you are such a boss man, I haven't played this game in about 5 years, and before that since I was a kid. Linking me to a map pack i didnt know existed? You're the man. Thank you!!

I have this switch resolution problem, major pain in the ass. Renaming the ddraw.dll file to anything fixes it, but the game runs at like 2 FPS in multiplayer :/
