Did we know why this version is abandoned ?
The steam version continues to live with new version (2.0), new DLC (Dragon clan...)....

Basically because the team said they had not enough resources to provide a DRM-free version that would be on par with the Steam version, which upset the GOG community and rightfully so.

They didn't even patch outstanding bugs. Funny thing is I asked them about one bug in particular, they said they didn't have the resources... aaaaand so I managed to patch it myself.

I'm baffled at how some dev studios must be functioning nowadays. One the other hand, I can't help thinking the problem is linked to greed somehow, and greed isn't quite a new thing in the world... I suspect the Steam version has become chockfull of micro-transactions, which wouldn't have worked so well on GOG.
