I'm having issues running this game on my Windows 8 laptop, I have 8gb ram, with intel HD graphics. The screen is black on initial startup, but then the menu screen loads I guess, but it's just a load of really low texture boxes on the bottom half of the screen and the sound fades in/out in the background. I'm just wondering if anybody has managed to resolve any issues like this when running this game.
I've tried the usual stuff, checked drivers are up to date, I have direct X 11 and it won't let me install the older Direct X version from the GoG troubleshooting page because of this. I've tried running in windows 8 compatibility, and run through the other steps in the troubleshooter to no avail.
Thanks in advance for any answers, I appreciate the help.

Another thing to note is I bought this game from GoG about 6 months ago, but just got around to downloading and installing it yesterday, so I would assume it is the latest update of the game.

I am most likely NOT the best person to try and answer this, but do you have a graphics card (other than Intel HD)?
E.G. my laptop has Intel Integrated Graphics plus a cheap Nvidia card which I can switch to when the integrated graphics (Intel) doesn't quite cut it.

Here are the min. system requirements for Arma gold according to the GOG game card:

Minimum system requirements: Windows XP, Intel Pentium 4 2.0GHz, 512 MB RAM for Windows XP, 1 GB for Vista, Nvidia Geforce FX series or ATI Radeon 9500 series or higher (Pixel Shader 2.0), 3 GB available hard drive space, DirectX 9.0c compliant soundcard Mature Blood, Strong Language, Violence
So it is quite possible that Intel HD can't handle the game properly, but as I have said, I'm probably not the best one to sort this out. Hopefully someone else with more knowledge than myself can help.

EDIT: This thread may have your solution. [url=http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ArmA_Update_1.14]Here is a link to the devs website with various mirrors to the 1.14 patch mentioned in the previous link. Try it out at your own risk.
