So I just bought Arma: Cold War Assault because I had some people tell me it was better than Gold Edition. After playing the first singleplayer mission of Cold War i'm happy with it but sad that I can't find an online game (not overly sad seeming how it's an old old game) but the question still haunts me... did I make a bad choice? I'd rather not shell out 10 more dollars for the gold edition. What are your thoughts?
Depends: how important to you is multiplayer? This is a single-player focused game with some multiplayer modes tacked-on, kinda the reverse of today's typical shooter.

And I probably shouldn't lump the ArmA games in with 'shooters'. "Squad-level simulator" is a better description.
Well it depends on how much enjoyment I can get from Cold War Assault. I enjoy watching videos of Arma 2 and 3 online where people do missions and stuff and are very strategic compared other "shooters"

I guess my question is are there people playing Arma: gold edition to the point where I can find a good game? I wish I could get Arma 2 but my computer can't run it, apperently my Graphics Card doesn't measure up.
I never played Operation Flashpoint (now Arma: Cold War Assault) online but I think out of all the ArmA games it has the best and least buggy singleplayer campaign of them all. Very enjoyable.
