Been trying to run this game since I bought it, finding poor framerates and even desktop crashes due "low memory".

There is any "best-ever-configuration-for-this-game" around? The config tool gives lot of control on lot of elements, but it seems the game itself can't handle some of those values (My computer can run smoothly Watch Dogs at maximum specs, I want to assume is the game's fault, not my hardware xD), and right now when entering in a mission it crashes due a "low memory" error.

Also, any kind of better textures pack, or better effects pack would be greatly appreciated. The game has aged not too well :P

Gonna make a shameless selfbump while I try to reinstall the game and re-configure it.

Anyone can help? :(

For the crashes related to the "low memory" message: launch the game passing the argument -nomap to the executable. This argument is to avoid memory mapping of files. To pass thi argument you have to create a shortcut for the executable file, than edit the shortcut properties. In the command line (destination) of the shortcut, after the executbale path add a space and the argument -nomap.

That should solve the problem.

For other ingame performance problems (aka low frame rate) try lowering the distance view parameter in the Option menu. Try a distance in the 900 - 1200 range.

I also strongly reccomand the "ECP Redux" addon for this game; is fantastic!

Thanks for the advice, I'll tinker a bit with this.
About the distance... do you know if is something wrong with the engine (i.e. the engine not handling well farther draw distances, whatever the graphic power is)?

I've seen a video of the ECP Redux mod and it looks quite good (For a mod for this old game, I mean xD), but the webpage is down ("Coming back soon" message). Any other mirror?

Well, I really don't know if there is something wrong with the engine, in that sense.
I'm not familiar with the internals of the game.

I can show you my situation, my system is:
ASUS X5DIN Notebook
Windows 7 32bit (SP 1)
Intel Core Duo CPU T6500 @ 2.10 GHz / 2.10 GHz
4 GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce G102M

I'm running the game with this Video Options config:
1366x768x32 @ 60 Htz (my native screen resolution an refresh rate)
Visual Quality param set to Max
Terrain Detail set to High
Visibility param set to 1250

Note that I have the postprocessing effects that came with DXDLL (postprocessing mod/dll included in ECP Redux) enabled configured as per ECP Redux default values.

The performance I'm experiencing are between 20-24 FPS (worst case) up to 45-60 FPS (best case).
The fluctuations depends by the mission I'm playing. Some mission are very light (in the terms of number of objects/actors, waypoints, scripts running, and so on) while others are pretty heavy.
All depends in the quality of the mission and in its richnesss.

See an answer to the same question I gave to another user.
