Hi, I don't know whether this is the right place for it, but I would like to share my experience with running ArmA: Cold War Assault in Wine.

Here are my specs:

Lenovo Thinkpad T61: Core 2 Duo CPU, Integrated GPU NVIDIA NVS 140M, 2 GB RAM

OS: Kubuntu 11.10, Kernel: 3.0.0-19-generic, 64-bit version (amd64), I'm using the non-free driver from NVIDIA to run my graphic card

Wine: version 1.4, installed by adding Wine repository and then installing the .deb package from the WineHQ website

Running the game:
After downloading the game from gog.com, I clicked the installer, everything went smoothly. After installing, I ran the game. The game ran well, but there was a problem with sound, there wasn't any. No music either. This is how I solved it:

I ran the Wine configuration utility found in the menus (or you can run the program from the terminal by typing "winecfg"). Under the Audio options, I clicked on the first menu, in my case the "Input Device" and chose the option "HDA Intel - AD198x Analog", then clicked to save the changes. After that the sound and music works almost perfectly, sometimes the sound in the game, especially speech from other soldiers stutters a little bit, but I remember having these issues 10 years ago when the game just got out as well. I know your hardware will probably be different, but for the sound issue I would try setting the option to some analog option under the input device menu. Well, that's all, now it's time to enjoy this timeless classic again!
Good report.I'll play CWA sporadically to the end of life even after crappy Windows exterminated.
