Hi guys, I'm a newbie to these forums so please be gentle ;) I just thought I would post here to add my voice to the many already proclaiming their love for this amazing game. It's actually the whole reason I signed up here ;)

I first discovered this absolute gem of a game in a pound shop when I were naught but a nipper. Imagine that, all that wonderful magickally technological goodness in exchange for one shiny pound coin. Of course, being that cheap it didn't come with a manual or anything like that and, being my first 'proper' RPG, there was a bit of a learning curve but I loved creating new characters and builds just to see how they affect the options this game throws at you (not much has changed there then ;) )

In conclusion, and in case this post was tl;dr let me sum it up in four words :

Arcanum ROCKS. and hi ;)

So I'm not the only one for whom Arcanum was the reason for joining GOG. In any case, welcome friend. I think you'll find Arcanum is but the tip of the iceberg of old school RPG goodness.

Oh I'm wel aware of that ;) As I said Arcanum was the first real cRPG I played and I didn't know or care about any of the others (Bioware's offerings, for example). But now I'm a good bit older I feel like I can truly appreciate those golden oldies now, and with this fantastic sale from GOG my credit care will be pleading for mercy ;) I've already got Baldur's Gate 1 + 2, Planetscape and Neverwinter Nights lined up as soon as I can afford em. But, I think, Arcanum will always have a special place in my heart.
