I bought the game a couple of hours ago to play with my girlfriend but I am having serious issues just starting up. When I start the game up I get this http://imgur.com/FtEhT
I tried downloading the high res patch and nothing helped, also tried downloading the latest fan patch but to do that I have to uninstall the high res patch, and I don't have the highres.bat file anywhere.

Some help would be nice because I would love to play this game!

First, make sure you have DirectX 9.0c installed. You need it for older games, and you can install it alongside DX10 or DX11, so you don't have to worry about affecting your newer games. Get it straight from Microsoft here:

You might want to reintall the game afterwards. If that still doesn't fix it, I think there is a fix related to the ddraw file. Check this thread:
