My game is getting a lot of lag even though I don't have any other programs running whilst playing Arcanum.

It's making the game frustrating to play.

I'm using Windows 8 and I never got this issue when I had Windows XP.

I'm running it in compatibility mode for Windows XP, but it's not helping at all with the laggy response times.

No idea if this will work but try adding -no3d -doublebuffer to the game's shortcut and see if there is any improvement.

I did try that, but it doesn't seem to have had any effect. But saying that, I didn't notice any visual change in the graphics so I'm not sure how to tell if I did it correctly.
