Which followers have moments in the plot such as Virgil [with Pollock, Vollinger (when recruiting), and Magnus (at P. Schuyler & Sons)], Vollinger when it happens, and Magnus at P. Schuyler & Sons?
When and where do these moments occur?

How would a good aligned character go about getting an evil aligned NPC to follow her?
I'm assuming Gar and Torian Kel won't be getting alone very well, so I'm wondering which one is most valuable plot wise.

EDIT: Will Torian Kel stay in the Ancient Temple even after refusing to join?

You have to be a Master of Persuasion.

Torian Kel, for sure.

Yes. You can make him join later (as a Master of Persuasion, for example).

Loghaire (in the Dredge, and again with Magnus if you take them both to the end of the Durin Stone side quest). Note that you have to convince Loghaire to end his exile in order to later recruit him as a follower.

Raven (with you in Qintarra, with a certain someone on a certain island late in the game, and a quick but intimate conversation [depending on your race and gender] just before the last part of the game).

Virgil (with that same certain someone, though he'll be Zen Virgil by then).

Z'an Al'urin (every time she enters a new town, as well as with Loghaire and IIRC Raven).

As Kerebron said, with Persuasion mastery you can have anyone, and if you also have a CH of 20 they'll never leave of their own accord (they have to be dismissed). In addition, Persuasion expertise opens up another follower slot, allowing you up to six NPCs (plus Dog).

Torian Kel actually prefers neutrality over either extreme. His real beef isn't with Gar; it's with a certain someone you'll run into very late-game, who's been banished to the Other Side. (Among other things, he has Torian Kel's ancestral sword.) So for story, go with him over Gar if forced to choose; Gar's story is basically over once you've procured his freedom. I never take him anyway; turning him loose is worth a Fate point, but only if you do so the moment he joins.

Yes. Most followers will remain (or return to) where you found them, just in case you change your mind. One exception is Sogg, who when abandoned will head to the nearest place with a bar. But that's the extent of his story value anyway.

Thanks for the information.

I'll probably go with Loghaire, Raven or Z'an Al'urin, Virgil, Magnus, Torian Kel, and Kaka-Tur.
I'll also grab Waromon and The Bane of Kree if possible.
