EBM: None of the modules I've tried have been as interesting as Arcanum itself[...]
Hammer49: I found them barely playable. The ones I tried seemed to be all about resource management. The only time I made any real progress was with a mage build, but I got bored of waiting for my fatigue to recover (as most of the modules disable waiting and resting) and gave up.
Of the ones I've played I think only the "Time" module actually has places you can rest. If you want to try a module, this is the one I would recommend. I played as a brain dead melee fighter and found more healing potions than I really needed. After a while the power of the monsters didn't keep up with my own power, so I turned the difficulty level up to hard (although it seemed to make little difference).
lagothzanta: I've tried buried secrets, deathmatch and "time". Time was the only one worth playing, deathmatch was a single lame combat (as far as I could see) and buried secrets seemed broken. 98% of time is a prolonged dungeon slog, it involves lots of fighting and no social skills. It probably took about 10 hrs to play through and at the end my character was 24th level.
username4: Did you manage to beat Buried Secrets?
The boss seems to be immune to damage, I could only defeat him with disintegrate and dominate will (after some savegame editing).
No, I got stuck at the beginning. I found the book was missing from the tomb, and it didn't give me any conversation options to tell the priest guy, I didn't see anyone else to talk to or any other place to go, so I gave up.
